My question is, was it done with hatred in the heart or was the guy just suffering from stupidity in the brain?
My interactions with him have led me to believe he is egotistical and a bit of a jackass. Not a racist, but just a jackass.

Haha, that's great. Not bad, Julian.
He (used to) DJ at Balliceaux for their post-punk nights, along with another person; I was a frequent attendee for years. The other person was a great DJ for it. Bopst just played what he wanted to, didn't take any requests, and made the dance floor a very awkward space.
