The intentions in allowing that were good, but as often happens, it was a knee jerk 'fix' that has and continues to cause vastly more problems than it ever addressed. It causes costs to be much higher, it leads to the whole issues of portability, and it limits the choices for consumers just to name a few biggies.

Everything Romney has done so far in this campaign, including this pick, has been to drive turnout of conservatives… they are not trying to attract independents but figure if they can get enough of "their" people out to the polls they can win.
