I believe the implication was that I should be jealous of the Good Charlotte guy, because he is dating Cameron Diaz. Hence, I asked why I should be jealous of a "washed up celebrity". That washed up celebrity being the Good Charlotte guy.

Can we basically agree that the Good Charlotte guys no longer have a career beyond getting ugly tattoos and picking out fake breasts for their wife?

At one point in my work career I worked for the Commonwealth.  My office was in the building next to the state house.  During this time the economy was not doing very well and state employees went without pay adjustments for 3-4 years.  I happened to be walking to lunch one day and ran into the then governor.  I stopped him and told him thank you for doing a good job handling the economy and that even though I would much rather be getting pay increases, I agreed with his decisions because they were the economically responsible thing to do.  He looked a little stunned and quite taken with my remarks but told me thank you and went on his way to whatever his task a hand was.  I wish the federal government was run the same way as Virginia is at least on the finance side of things.
