I take the commuter train to work. A train comes every 30 minutes. As I walk to the train platform, I always see grown middle aged men sitting in their cars blasting the heat waiting for the train's arrival time. They're pussies and they need to dress warmer. But I get it. If my 19 year old car had heat, I might do the same thing.
What I don't get is why a couple of them absolutely blast their car radio (always morning talk radio) to the point that you can be walking 20 feet away from the person's car and hear the radio loud and clear through the closed windows. Does the heater make such a loud sound in car that this must be done?
Maybe they are getting pumped up for the day. You take a train to the subway? And you have a 19 year old car? Ouch. I bought a new car last night. It wasn't the Audi I wanted but I sacrificed for the kid and got a smaller BMW. My payment went down and I have better gas mileage. You might have influenced me a bit. I hope the kid when he poops out appreciates me downgrading.
Maybe we should have a auto thread. I love cars. We are dudes so we all love cars right?
I wonder how atomic's rear wheel drive 3 series is handling the snow today?

Heh… I actually test drove a Forrester in early January and it drove like a Honda Civic, no lie at all… maybe I'm used to a V6 engine, but it felt like I was driving around a plastic box.

Not driven the forrester but I am a toyota man through and through. Do the regular maintenance and it will never let you down. I've had two corrollas and now have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid…it's my favorite car of all time.

Had an Outback rental. Mediocre handling, medoicre braking and poor acceleration. Very ugly interior. I am sure the forester is similar. I guess at least with the Subaru the gas pedal won't stick. Test drive them both and choose which one you like best. Really the only Japanese car company with decent vehicles is Infiniti.

I like how they have those tires in an off-road photo.

I have had so many bad rental cars. Back in 2001 had a Ford Mustang that fish tailedtailed in light rain. Hyundai, fordis, and GMCs seem to make the worst cars. I rented a 350Z Nissan in Vegas and averaged over 100 mph from Vegas to grand canyon. Fun car. The rentals in Europe seem to be so much better. In a lot of places in the US it is impossible to get a decent rental.

back when the PT was still new, i flew up to Toronto for a friend's wedding. i really wanted to try the PT so i paid extra to rent one. got on the highway and promptly turned around at the first exit, went back to the airport and made them give me another car. worse driving experience i have ever had. it was unpleasant to drive. dunno how you do that.

My mother purchased a PT Cruiser, I drove it once, and was completely dumbfounded why anyone who had ever test-drove the vehicle would've elected to purchase it. Worst car I ever drove.

I'm surprised you didn't disown your mother for purchasing a PT Cruiser.

as ar as i can tell the only thing the PT has going for it is its looks. looks like something one straps a surfboard to and goes to the beach with.put some flames on it and your have a poor man's version of those cars in ZZ Top videos. it was its looks that made me want to try it. too bad that's the only thing it had going for it.
