Things Smackie Thinks You Need to Know...

you don't see the value in last.fm?  a lot of people either lack the knowledge, or the will, to hunt down new music.  it has social networking and music suggestions that users won't get is they go it alone in the cloud.

I said "added value" and I was referring to the last.fm player.  And no, I don't see the added value of paying $3 a month for last.fm with my entire collection available to me via audiogalaxy, though I do pay the $36 a year for Pandora because I higher bit rate AND no commercials (far be it for me to point out that they also have a free option).  Now that's added value.
^ Oh Smackie, never underestimate the "added value" of "a prestigious black icon"!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

You know they aren't offering much else if they have to include such inane filler as a selling point.

Cue some wise-ass (I'm looking at you, NKOTB) with a well placed zinger.  ;)
Now this is "added value".

which works out to $3/month… ;)
i come in here every once in a while, to be entertained.  and i am.  the picture from jaguar was a nice, endearing touch of funny.
kinda bummed on the specs for the Echo phone, no 4G and non dual core processor, the dual screen features look great, but it appears they shorted themselves a bit… Kosmette thought the same as well.

and at&t sticks us on the antrix because it's their exclusive…  bah humbug to two year contracts and exclusive phones :p

I understand that at&t's exclusive on the Atrix is not eternal like the iPhone.  I'm hearing 3-6 months, however, I expect Verizon to be the other carrier with the Atrix (if that helps your decision making).

I agree - stay away from the Echo.  Too much hype, not enough meat.

I get that, which is why I used it as my example.  I also noted that there was value add (higher bit rate AND no commercials, but if I didn't want that, Pandora offers a free solution).

Again, I don't see the value add in taking something I could already do for free (albeit ad supported) and closing it down to $3 a month with no other added advantage, other than commercial free.  I'm on record as saying this is a bad idea for last.fm and I stand by it.  They will change this policy in 3 months…
No comment on Li-Lo's pending felony charges?

Innocent!  Clearly a misunderstanding and I have offered my (legal) services pro-bono.

I'm more concerned about the $40K tanning bill she hasn't paid.  Lindsay, you're out of work and live in LA - just go lay out all day!
LiLo is last hours news, Ashley Simpson is on the market
I'll still never understand why if someone is going to spend that much time and energy into something like these things, they just don't bother with learning to play a real guitar, drums, etc..

I would lay her all day.
^ She's awfully pale for a $40K tanning bill!

Maybe she has a standing appointment that she never shows up for. The kind that bills you whether or not you actually show up.

you still have rock band… for now.

Rock band with the real guitar is going to occupy my spring.

I never really liked Guitar Hero anyway, except for the Van Halen version.  That was awesome.

And Jag, suck on this.
^ I'd still rather stick with a guitar without the gaming. Besides, Squiers suck. A few stops up from Playskool. At least go with a basic Strat which can be found rather cheaply and you get a really good basic guitar to work with.

You're missing the point Jag.  I wish my Strat would work, but it doesn't (yet). That's just a matter of time.

The point is the game developers are moving in the direction of providing beginners with the opportunity to learn to play a real instrument with the backing of a band behind them - I would have killed to have that when I was learning to play instead of playing in my room by myself all day.

This will be killer….
^ Nah, I do get your point. In theory, I actually agree with you. It's just that I've often heard that the timing is off which can actually be confusing to some beginners trying to make the transition. Maybe they've improved that. I don't know.

Besides, there's so many other ways, especially with all of today's technologies and networking offerings, that I just think it's more of a hinderance than an enhancement. Then again, if it gets one practicing compared to traditional methods, than c'est la vie.
