hey smackie,
what are your thoughts on the nfl lockout? specifically do you think will the lockout ruin a potential vegas trip in late october/early november for a guy that doesnt really like table games?

Are you worried all the players will be there, wrecking
your chances with the ladies?

I hate both sides on this. The owners suck and the players got too nice of a deal last time and they know it. The owners never should have signed it and the players can't be surprised that the owners have opted out.
That being said, I think we're absolutely looking at some form of stoppage. I'm not saying that it will go into September, but I doubt it's done by the draft.
So how does this affect your Vegas trip - well, you don't have to book it for some time and you'll know long before then what to expect. Here's what I would do if there is a stoppage: Fly home earlier on Sunday. You can sit in the book all day Saturday and watch College Football and then Sat night there will very likely be a World Series game that you can watch. When that's over go to Spearmint Rhino or something and you'll avoid the tables. But instead of taking the Red Eye flight back to Dulles Sunday night, if there's no NFL, just fly back earlier. The last option of course is to place a bet on the NASCAR race on Sunday (you can bet NASCAR will move every race to Sunday if there's a stoppage) and pretend like you're really into it. Or bet on the PGA event - another good Sunday time waster in the book. If you're late enough that it's early November, perhaps both the NHL and NBA will be going too…
Plenty of options for you if there's a stoppage and you're in Vegas next fall.

No such thing as monogamy on a Vansmack blog.

This was true when I was married or in a relationship. Right now I'd hide your daughters…

Once you announced you were swapping DirecTV for a chihuahua, it was clear the marriage was on its last legs.

Brilliant insight. It's clear that I did all I could….
And for the record, I got the dog. Non-negotiable.

Wow, Smackie. I keep hoping that this was just some sort of wise crack. You know, like a Smackism.
If it's true, I'm so sorry and hope that the best happens for both of you. Hopefully, you'll only look back on it as one of the positive parts of your life instead of one filled with hate, hurt and regret.
Watch out world!!! Smackie is on the loose again!

You did better than me mate. My ex-bitch got the kid (inc. ungodly amounts of child support), the house, better car, all the furniture plus MY dog. My dog that she gave away two months later.
Ah, divorce in the peoples republic of Maryland!
If I had a va-j-j I'd make a career of divorce in MD.
Sorry about your split though mate, it's never easy. When did this happen?
OY! Just got a txt from my missus, she says to call her!

Thank you for the support but it's unnecessary. I'm doing just fine, I'm just MUCH LESS wealthy. The joys of a community property state…
I only posted about it because I was starting to joke about my exploits and I didn't want to make it look like I was being disrespectful, which sweetcell so correctly noted as not being my style. Of course, he's only saying that with the hope that his wife is not in my sights…

^ Bet that feels a tiny bit like coming out of the closet. Not as much or as dramatic, of course, but you've now got the freedom of talking as you'd like without having to watch what you say.
I, for one, have no doubt that you will somehow come through this with flying colors.
You don't have to answer this if you'd prefer not but was this the real reason for your move awhile ago?
