Things Smackie Thinks You Need to Know...

Anybody is going to appear hot next to his ugly mug. And she does, barely. ;)

I had nearly forgetten about that.

Unfortunately, the UBB software no longer considers me logged in consistently (despite being able to post). The downside to this is that I can no longer preview new posts. There will be no smackie interpretation of electronic origami this year.
One too many visits to Sacramento this year arguing with the legislature.

They've plotted their revenge:

California tax proposals target beer-loving, pornography-watching yacht owners

Strip clubs, six-packs, grocery bags and iTunes downloads are all in their sights as alternatives to broad income or sales tax hikes.

It's on like Donkey Kong now!

at least my boy's eyebrows look real.

I have the opposite view on bartenders at strip clubs…

see, since strippers lack "natural beauty" who wants a girl that looks like a stripper yet doesnt even take her clothes off…isnt that really their only redeeming quality????

Interesting. I like to talk to people, which is strange, because in general, I hate people, but I find strippers some of the most fascinating people to talk to. After you get through the whole "My name's Cinnamon and I live in Newport Beach" crap, there's a lot more meat behind there than you give them credit for.
At some point consumers will realize that these exclusive deals are bad for them…

RIM introduces first new Blackberry in over a year

Shares of Research In Motion Ltd. rose to a new all-time high Monday as the smart-phone maker unveiled the Bold, which is its first major new BlackBerry model in more than a year.

RIM said Monday that the Bold, which has twice the screen resolution of the company's current Curve device, dual-band Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities, will be available from carriers this summer.

AT&T Inc. said Monday that it will be the exclusive carrier for the Bold in the U.S.; its 3G network is the only one stateside that is compatible with the first model of the handset.
Today's Rock Band Downloadable tracks have me just giddy….

Hanging on the Telephone - Blondie
Train in Vain - The Clash
And this little Sonic Youth Ditty....
Are you going to liberate those strippers from male white corporate oppression?

Every. Chance. I. Get.
Now here's a sweet solution…

If you're like me and your home entertainment system is hooked to the interwebs, you've likely got a long cable cable running from your router across the room (or maybe in a different room) to your home theater system. My particular set up is a wireless router connected via a 50 foot cable to a 4 port switch, which then hooks up to my DVR, an Xbox 360, a slingbox, and a wireless media sharing device that I really should sell because I never use it.

Anyhow, I've wanted to go all wireless for a long time but the wireless adapters are still around $80 each and I'd need four of them, not to mention that I have not been happy with G speeds for gaming anyway. $320 is not worth the price to get rid of one long cable that smackette hates. Even she agrees. But now that's changed.

D-Link released today a 4 port wireless N Bridge for your home entertainment system. One product, $119, that hooks up four of your devices to your wireless network, at N speeds.

Brilliant.

I recently moved and got Verizon FIOS who give you a wireless router with the internet service, so I installed third party firmware on my old router and made it a wireless ethernet bridge, basically the same thing I guess, except at G speeds.

Qwest must be crapping themselves.

Nice work - any problem gaming on G speeds? I had one of the first G adapters years ago and didn't like the performance. Are they improved?

Qwest still dominates in the city, but I moved to the suburbs. I havent played much online with it yet, have only had it setup for two days now, but will let you know. Only problem so far is that my wireless rear channel speakers are conflicting with my wireless network. Which kind of blows.
I met with folks from Portland who were inquiring about a very interesting model for the city.

The idea was for the City to invest in the cost of laying the fiber, and then letting the Internet Service Providers compete over who provides the service over that fiber, not offering an exclusive contract to any one provider. Qwest was trhe roadblock last I heard. I should find out where that's at. Sounds like a huge bonus for both the provider (no up front infrastructure costs) and the consumer (competition drives the price down) if it happens.

i love the fact that gay people want to ruin the union of marriage as well. did they read the heterosexual twenty first century handbook? morals are out, diversity is in. the divorce rates among gays will be triple what it is for those other straight things that walk around.
Sweet.
