Things Smackie Thinks You Need to Know...

Jimmy Iovine called it a "revolutionary music service" so it has to be good.

I suspect you will have to have an Apple Device to use whatever Apple's new Music Streaming service will be, so again, no that likely that my comparison will be coming soon.

I stand corrected.  Android version coming this fall.

I probably won't use it, but it's progress for many.

Live 24/7 Human DJs, artists direct page, and apparently some some sort of learning your tastes playlists feature.  Not much more to it, other than better Siri integration.  $10 for one, $15 a month for a family of up to 6 (I really hope Google Play Music All Access adds a family plan because of this).

I don't have time to read this right now, but I am absolutely coming back to this:

Four Columbia House insiders explain the shady math behind ?8 CDs for a penny?
I read that earlier. It gets a little long in the tooth in the middle but is worth a read.

I have been enjoying 1995 week on AV Club greatly.
I just got a invite to test the Apple Music product on Android… I actually tried Tidal for it's free month and thought the sound quality was pretty good, but couldn't justify the price for it. The playlists on Tidal were pretty lame.  How hard is to pick 10 Daptone Records songs for instance.  Kinda thought they would throw me a discount to stay a subscribe, but alas that didn't happen, so it's on to the Apple test.
So there you have it - Kosmo will be providing the review.  Looking forward to it.
as expected…apple is sticking it to the artists

Felt this was the most apropos place to post this. This seems like a mess.

Totes.  A few of my author friends hated it before - I'm sure they hate it even more now.
It's almost Dickensian (as in the actual guy, not his writing) in that its incentivizing authors to stretch out stories because they're getting paid by the page.

It works for me and if it's hosted on AWS and they're blocking it they would be in even more trouble than before….

That's not how I read it.

You'll get the same amount for the book as before in total.  You're just not getting it upfront or at the 10% mark - you're only getting the 100% payment if the person reads 100% of the book.

Indiana - Axl Rose Vocals.  That line alone kills any credibility the article had any chance of having.

Virginia - No Mention Of Dave Mathews.  This almost fully redeems the previous oversight.
