Things Smackie Thinks You Need to Know...

Because my biggest complaint about the old iPod Touch was that it was too thick….

Anyhow, they're cashing out on the old ones - if you don't need to add Nike+ and aren't alarmed at the thickness:

16GB for $240
32GB for $320

Otherwise, get the new one for:

8GB $229
16GB $299
32GB $399
I was going to review iTunes 8 but this Genius stuff has completely halted my machine. I recommend running it over night. I was pleased to see they added the Grid View - that's one thing I missed about WMP.

It is Flash (7). And that's your answer. If I remember correctly, you can switch player changes to JAVA and that will work, but the stat-tracker moved to Flash last year (for both football and baseball). Last year you could use either JAVA or Flash, but not any more.

It does work on my WinMo 6.1 though. Hehe.
SHIT. doubt i'm getting a itouch then

I hadn't read it yet this morning, but thank you. As usual, I agree and disagree with Tom (we're on that level now, BTW).

The first thing Obama needs to do is hire some really smart and energetic people to be his local representatives amd start mobilizing that energy that carried through the primary victory. The lull of the primary victory is over, and it's time to finish this off. But be careful - this election is not won in early Sept - it's won in early October. I like the strategy of letting the Repubs have their moment now. I like the strategy of pointing out that we still don't know who Sarah Palin is. I like the strategy of attacking the Republican spin machine without apology. Put the emphasis on them while they've got the spotlight.

That being said, I really liked his energy in the comments this morning. I'm starting to see that fire again. That's not good news for the Repubs, because we all saw McCain's speech…the fire did not come off as genuine because he doesn't know how to use a teleprompter. The debates might actually matter this year, and I like my chances in a debate.
Just a quick shout out to the 2008 AL West Champion Angels. Yep, it's September 10.

given how weak their division was, i'm surprised it took them this long.

Geez, tough crowd. Fastest in AL West history and 5th fastest in the history of Baseball's 162 game season and the first reply is "what took you so long?"

Oh, man! Just what I need.

Of course, we'd also need compatible electrical converters.

If anyone gets one, please let us know how it is. I'm concerned about the needle and what all it might pick up besides the intended audio.

Best Buy to Aquire Napster for $121 Million
By AJA CARMICHAEL
September 15, 2008 9:12 a.m.

Best Buy Inc. has agreed to buy Napster Inc. for $121 million, a deal that the consumer-electronics giant said it will use to reach new customers.

The deal, which includes $67 million of cash and short-term investments on Napster's books, values the provider of digital music at $2.65 a share, nearly double Friday's closing price of $1.36.

The acquisition, which is set to close in the fourth quarter, includes Napster's 700,000 digital entertainment subscribers, Web-based customer-service platform and mobile capabilities.

"Best Buy intends to use Napster's capabilities and digital subscriber base to reach new customers with an enhanced experience for exploring and selecting music and other digital entertainment products over an increasing array of devices," said Best Buy President and Chief Operating Officer Brian Dunn.

Best Buy has been expanding its wireless products and services, rolling out cellphone departments to all of its U.S. stores. In May, the consumer electronics retailer paid $2.1 billion to form a joint venture with U.K.-based Carphone Warehouse Group PLC.

Napster said Chief Executive Chris Gorog and the company's senior executives will remain in their posts. The company does not plan to relocate its Los Angeles headquarters.

In late May, Napster began selling songs in the unrestricted MP3 format, a move the company hoped would bolster its position against Apple Inc.'s iTunes and Amazon.com Inc.'s online store. Napster also continued selling restricted tracks via its subscription service.

Shares of Best Buy fell 3.3% to $43.01 in premarket trading amid broad weakness caused by the weekend's unprecedented developments in the financial sector.
So The Director and I are currently marvelling at how amazing the Video for ZZ Tops "Legs" has held up over time. It should be a crappy 80's video, but has remarkably stood the test of time, despite clearly being filmed in a Jersey strip mall.

It's also a little known fact that the guy who plays the cook and hero in the blue hooded vest is, in fact, GGW.
Venerable was kind enough to share this with me, and it's a really good article (despite my personal feelings about Mr. Hitchens).

My only point of contention is how he spins this as a potential problem for liberals and Obama at the end. This is exactly what those familiar with Foreign Policy and National Security but opposed to the Iraq war have been warning against from day one, and that's exactly how I would sell it.

We could have avoided the upcoming Pakistan-Afghanistan war if we had stayed the course and not been distracted by the Iraq war - which has proved fruitless on the war on terror and keeping the price of oil down. It's not more war necessarily, it's further war that could have been unecessary but for the neo-con strategy to weaken the attack on Al Qaeda and invade Iraq, where Al Qaeda was not present until after the invasion.

Pakistan Is the Problem
And Barack Obama seems to be the only candidate willing to face it.
