Things Smackie Thinks You Need to Know...

where does cano go? espn insider had an article about why nats/cano is a perfect match (didn't read, not an insider. you are tho, right? /winkyface).  i'm under the impression the nats don't need to do a damn thing (some years, it just doesn't work out like you drew it up…), but that's my own biased opinion.

That's what Swydan said, stating that he hadn't talked to a soul inside the organization though.

His argument is to move Rendon to third, Zimmerman to first and LaRoche to DH/PH duties.

This would allow Rendon and Zim to play a full season injury free, strengthen the bench (at an absurd cost!), and balance the lineup with a strong left-handed bat.

They would get the funds from the MASN settlement with the Orioles.

I don't agree with much of it.
i would ask for my money back if i were u

LaRoche can't be counted on for more than half the season..he gets injured all the time…
Ellsbury to Yankees for 7 years/153 milion
Johnny Damon,  part duex…

Too soon.
Cano to seattle
looks like it might be 10 years for 240 million for Cano

honestly i'd much rather have Cano than Ellsbury…assuming everything continues as it is (he doesn't get caught for roids/hgh)

Seattle has to do something to get people to come watch them -  attendance has been abysmal.

Every deal though,  makes the Pujols and Hamilton deal look better though.
I dont' get what the yankees did with ellsbury/cano

cano is a WAY better player … but on a per year basis aren't they paying ellsbury about the same as what cano is getting in seattle?

and ellsbury is a former red sox.. not a guy who helped you win a world series?

do they yankees have some beef with cano or know somethign we don't?

they're paying ellsbury i calculate about 22 million a year for 7 years… cano is getting 24 million for 10 years or 24 million a year

its crazy
Dustin Pedroia has to be looking at his latest deal and saying to his agent, "WHAT THE (BLEEP), GUYS!!"
George Steinbrenner rolls in his grave

Prior to the Cano deal they only had $25M - $32M guaranteed from 2014-2019.  So they had money to spend.
so from what i gather seattle had a 9/225 offer on the table that was already leagues beyond what ny was offering

then at the last minute they upped it to 10/240?

so they outbid themselves on an already ludicrous deal?

ridiculous. let's see how long this deal takes to backfire
Yankees get Beltran $45 million/3 years

That's a year too many for a 37 year old, but they Yankees don't care.
