I believe the billing address has to be the same, but I'm not positive.  I feel like we used it jointly before we moved in…
I see us signing up again in fairly short order… we use Amazon for a ton of stuff..

If you guys don't mind, start a google doc and let me know how much you spend on shipping for the year you don't have Prime.  I've always wanted to do it, but I've kept Prime because it makes sense for my situation.  Because I don't live anywhere near family, I used to spend $50-$60 around the holidays alone.

The woman I live with and I split it because you can add up to 6 people to your Prime account (little known fact?).  For $50 Prime is a steal, but I suspect that even if we combined incomes, it would still make sense because she likes to shop.

Prime doesn't save you any money on shipping.  Shipping is free at Amazon if you spend 35 dollars.  It rarely takes more than 2 days for shipping with regular shipping so the Prime free shipping is a scam.  In fact the last item I ordered came the next day.  Once they get a warehouse in Baltimore you will get everything in a day with the free shipping so prime really has no purpose.
A lot (probably most) of the stuff I order through Amazon is from third-party Marketplace sources that Prime doesn't cover. Prime is probably okay if you order a lot of mainstream common goods but sucks for obscure and out-of-print stuff.

This has been my experience too. I get the free >$35 shipping and I've always gotten stuff in two days. (The Richmond fulfillment centers probably contribute to this.)

yeah, I'm not impressed at all
I am a prime member, but am considering dropping it when my renewal comes up in Sept
as the movies/tv via prime really aren't that great either

for $99 I need to order a lot more stuff from amazon to make up for the free shipping

Now I did pay for Hulu and I am somewhat liking it
One great find was "Moone boy" with Chris O'Dowd

So are they coming out with a Spotify for movies/TV?

Hulu is pretty good as they have a lot of classic tv shows like Brady Bunch, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Cosby Show.  Seems like Netflix pretty much ignores classic tv.  Plus Hulu has shows the day after they come out.

I can't stand classic TV as I saw all of those back in the 70s and 80s and have no desire to see them again.
Only show I was happy to find was Sports Night

Amazon caught on to my scheme recently and I was banned forevah!

I also enjoy a caper and any pretty fair kerfuffle that may ensue. Do tell.
do I, really, need to know?
my laptop died.  dell xps.  had it ten years.  loved that thing.  sniff, sniff.  should be fun to remove the hard drive to attempt to rescue the data.  got new laptop.  some hp envy touchsmart thing.  cheap and I think i like it.  neat,o.  thought, you needed, to know.
10 years…you go more than your moneys worth on that
5-6 is desktop life span anything after that is just borrowed time
I can't imagine that your battery still worked after ten years…
the god, of mechanical,  likes me.

I replaced my dead laptop with an iPad Air.  Don't really see the point of laptops anymore.  I am shocked that you got 10 years out of a dell.  Always had them for work and never got more than 3 years out of them.  Battery dead after year one.  Had to replace the keyboard on my current one after 2 years and it is on its last legs.  Dell isn't known for quality.

So you replaced a work computer with a toy?   to you touch type your 60 page manifestos on a small screen like that?
they are fun for browsing the web and reading books/mags.  but for people who actually use their computers to do work, tablets are just toys

I too am shocked, but it does happen.  Just can't believe with all the porn I assume walky downloads it wasn't slowed to a crawl anytime he opened a browser.

dell makes a good economy computer (and actually pretty decent servers)
Never really liked their laptops, cheap and flimsy
also no matter what brand of laptop you get, optimal battery life is only 18-24 months
Unless (like most people) you have it plugged in all the time, you might get a longer life

I think laptops are like 4 wheel drive cars/trucks.  All these people buy them and are like "I'm adventure man and I'm going to be off-roading and all sorts of crazy things in this" when reality is they will never engage the 4 wheel drive

The laptop scenario is " i'll have so much freedom, I'll use it in the coffee shop, I'll sit in my backyard with a cup of coffee, I'll take it to all my business meetings"
When reality is…I've moved laptops and there is a ring of dust around where it sat for 3+ years and never moved

Long story short…you overpay for a feature you'll never use and get a product that will have lot more issues, more expensive to fix and have a shorter life span…all cause you wanted to show the world how 'free' you are.  Ads…really warp the mind
You so crazy. My wife, my daughter, and I are constantly moving about two laptops all over the house. That's hardly collecting dust in the same spot.

You are right about the 4 wheel drive, in general, for us. Our RAV4 gets no more off road use than the Saturn.
i can communicate, with ghosts and ufos . . . they allow me to keep things, longer than most humans.  and i just stream porn, never download.
