yeah, i've been depressed about this all morning. i fear that putin will take this as vincation for his policies (aka kleptocracy and cronyism). i doubt that anyone in his entourage will point out that hitler was also once chosen as Time's man of the year. sigh.

One last thing that was most likely not talked about by the US media (or at least I haven't seen it). Turns out a US air craft carrier was denied by China to spend port in Honk Kong for Thanksgiving. Seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding from Beijing…except that the carrier decided to set sail through the Taiwan Strait on its way back to Japan (a major no no and a bit of an F U from the US). But other than that, things seem to be fine between the two super powers. Gulp.
