Things Smackie Thinks You Need to Know...

Because I posted this in the less viewed Roll Call thread, I thought I should drop this in here as well:

Smackie is making a couple of guest appearances in your fine city this weekend.

I will be at the Nats game on Sunday (weather permitting) and watching USA v Portugal at Duffy's by the club at 6 Sunday evening.

No RSVP necessary.
A retweet:

There's a joke to be made about porn adopting new tech and the Fire Phone's perspective feature, but I presume someone already made it.

Also,  this :

James Joyce would pick fights in Paris, then hide and call Ernest Hemingway to beat the shit out of the guy.
MusicVault has added 12000 classic concerts/clips to it's vault:

https://www.youtube.com/user/musicvault

"These include concerts from The Who, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen (among others); newer shows like Deer Tick in Vermont during Hurricane Irene; and archives from Woodstock, the now-defunct Capitol Theater in New Jersey and the Newport Jazz and Folk festivals. The Music Vault group said it has spent the last two years "restoring, transferring, mixing and mastering thousands of tapes from (its) enormous archive" for the new collection. All told, there are now 13,000 videos totaling nearly 2,000 hours on the site, along with playlists, features and original content. If you've got a couple of hours to spare, check the source – if not, get a taste with the videos below."

good to know, thanks guys. i suspected it was dynamic pricing, those ticket prices are fairly absurd.

RE: drinks. i was thinking the same thing. doesn't have to be a fancy beer place.  i'm in town that weekend for the annual napa valley farm bureau dinner, so i'll be spending most of my time around napa.  once i have a better idea when i'll be around the city, i'll shoot you a PM.  will be around the july 12 weekend as well.

I've been watching the prices and you're not getting in for under ~$70 this weekend - and those aren't good seats.  Keep an eye on the last few hours tonight to see if there's a collapse, but I highly doubt it.  The race is close and these two fan bases HATE each other.

I just now, this second, realized your signature is stating Trout is better than Harper, not that your life was better at 27 than it was at 34, which I, for some reason, assumed was the age at which you got divorced. Whoops.

Funny. I don't know whether I should be amazed at that or disappointed.  I guess because we've never met, you wouldn't know how little my divorce affected me.  Other than the check I amazingly had to write her at the end, it was a non factor.  I'm happier in life right now than I've ever been.  40>x

But yes, 27>34 is a constant reminder of what I consider one of my greatest calls of all time - that Mike Trout would be better than Bryce Harper, and that it wouldn't be close.

Well, I mean, just that I cared enough to create a fanciful narrative about you… :D

That is exactly what the anonymity of a message board is all about.

I've never been so heart broken as when I found out that jadetree wasn't a woman.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered xneverwherex WAS a woman.

FWIW, I also assumed jadetree was a woman until you just said otherwise.
Thoughts on the new Hilary Duff single? I give it a solid 7.

It's an 8.5 with the video, but I give the single a 6.5 as merely a catchy summer of 2014 attempt at Taylor Swift's success that came out about 6 weeks too late…
I don't know Mr.Vansmack, but he strikes me as the kind of guy who doesn't even own a suit

you?

I don't have to sneak into Candlestick, the GM is a good friend of mine.  However, I have used the suit and tie to get many places where I shouldn't have been.

FB friends will have seen my photo from the top of the new 49ers stadium in a suit….

Sort of imagine Neil Patrick Harris' character from How I Met Your Mother, and add in a belief that they're both qualified to write for the Economist and run a major league baseball team and you pretty much have my vision of the Smackie persona I have culled together over the years. (Although I have never met the man.)
