These two argued about the specifics of the deal for almost 2 years, and now magicaly they get the deal done today? Hmmmm…I don't think Russia intended this when they rolled into Georgia.

so i'm looking for a break-down of prices and features of leading media extenders … leaning towards a PS3 or xbox360 because of their gaming capabilities, but am open to pretty much anything

i've been googling for reviews that line up different systems next to each other, but can't find anything up-to-date … any advice?

If I wasn't a gamer and didn't have a 360, I'd buy a Popcorn Hour A-110.

As far as the two gaming devices, I think Pollard might have both devices so maybe he could shed a light on the major differences between the two (Blu-Ray on Sony notwithstanding). I'm hoping to get a beta release of the new 360 interface before the end of the month, which I think will make great strides in making the 360 a true media center (eg, no longer using the antiquated blades).

If your main storage device is a PC with Media Center, I think the 360 wins out. If you're using the 360 blades only, I think PS3 might have the slicker interface for now, but perhaps someone who has more PS3 knowledge could help out.

Otherwise, the best source for non-gaming extenders is TheGreenButton.

Since I mainly use my mac mini for all media, I cant really say much about the PS3 vs. 360 as media extender. But if I had to choose one right now I would go with the 360, I dont think Blu Ray is all that and I just think the 360 is a better experience all around. But I have never been a Sony fan so take that for what its worth.

I actually just feel like the xbox and 360 continue the line of Genesis/Dreamcast which I always preferred to the playstation line. Dreamcast was the bomb! (in more ways than one)
