COVID-19 2020

31-64 is the "everybody else" category

I know that, but when have 31 year olds ever been in the same demographic as 64 year olds? Age in an of itself is a risk factor. 64 year olds die/get sicker at a far greater rate, regardless of comorbidities.
Virginia Department of Health’s official position is that all people who work for health care companies (not specifically facilities, more vaguely “companies”) that care for Covid positive patients are considered 1A in the tier for vaccinations.

Not specifically (as you and I would assume — and probably agree should be) those caregivers and clinicians that come in contact with Covid positive patients: everyone. Those of us in corporate. The janitor who comes in after hours. Everyone. They’re sending us like 6,000 (divide by 2) doses.

It’s wild.
And let me tell those of you who are wowed by my powers of prognostication, here’s what’s about to follow: Space will tell me I should decline to be vaccinated as I do not deserve/need it and I will tell him to kick rocks and a pretty fair kerfuffle is going to ensue until I get bored of arguing with him.
He will probably blame me for his kid not returning to school sooner.

I won't, because my kid doesn't want to go back in person until August. But many others on social media will and are
Ok, this was pretty funny

my plan is to get one shot of pfizer and one shot of moderna aka the arnold palmer
Seems like people really got the message about not getting together

@TSA screened 1,191,123 individuals at airport checkpoints nationwide yesterday, Wednesday, Dec. 23. It’s the highest checkpoint volume since March 16,
A better metric might be how does it compare to the previous December 23rd?

It's down quite a bit…but I think that it's the highest day since march is still telling

also if you are curious

You can find the comparison of TSA checkpoint travel numbers for 2020 and 2019 by visiting: https://bit.ly/333XpM2
Ok thanks

I am not going anywhere but people are sick of the restrictions ..sick of not seeing family…

If only people could hold on another month or two we might save 100,000 lives

1 in 960 Americans have died from covid …my guess is that number understates it and it’s more like 1 out of 700…that’s a hell of a lot of people

Yet there is no reaction

The vaccine rollout seems as flawed as everything else

No, it's likely not.

It takes some time to set up the distribution of that many vaccines. How many locations are there nationwide that should be receiving doses? 5,000? 10,000? That's a ton of coordination.

And there needs to be clear guidance on who is supposed to get the vaccines. Does that exist at a local level? Is there any accountability to that?

And there needs to be a protocol in place on how to identify those people, set up rooms with necessary equipment, ensure staff is in place to intake, administer and monitor the recipients.  Times 10,000.

And all of this only affects the rollout. Once that's all in place, things will start to ramp up. But the start is slow by definition.

And remember, facilities can't administer all the doses they receive, since one shot is only half the dose.  The most cautious approach is to only inject half the doses - in case you don't get anymore.

Also, they're saying you can't mix and match Pfizer and Moderna vaccines (Arnold Palmer, anyone?). So you're either a sole vaccine facility, or you get both and have to track who gets which one, and make sure you don't run out of either version…twice the complexity, adding to the risk.

So just be patient. You'll get yours. In the meantime, stay inside and wear a mask.

Actually, stay outside and wear a mask.

Thought this had been discussed…
What if it's just a half a jigger of Moderna, with a full pour of Pfizer and then Regeneron drip as a chaser
Then for the second dose, you mix in some egg white foam and hydroxychloroquine stuffed green olive as a garnish
I'll have to thank Ms Hutch for this funny 'I'm just a Vaccine' vid that John Hopkins made in the spirit of School house rocks "I'm just a bill"
