I mean I plan to keep getting any vaccines and boosters I can but they are a big disappointment and I feel like the messaging regarding these @vaccines@ is a crock.
COVID-19 2020
That’s great…you have a lower chance of dying if not vaccinated
Not disputing that which I think is the point those charts make
But it’s a pretty big distance from hey if you just get vaccinated you have virtually no chance of getting covid to hey if you get vaccinated you have a lower chance of dying but are going to get it anyways..instead of 3% or whatever chance of unvaccinated dying from covid your chance goes to virtually zero. I mean 3% is not a huge chance..of course it’s exponentially more than nearly 0.

And I don’t see those charts as evidence I would have gotten it worse without being vaccinated …we just don’t know..
What I think is true is if I had gotten it in early 2020 I would have likely died

The most likely reality is that covid is just weakening over time and people getting it in 2023 aren’t getting it as badly as they would if they got it in 2019.
Am sorry..am ticked off cause my kid got into trouble at school today…
So while I get the intention was good…not sure I'm not a big fan of the Virality Project

guy had a lot going on in his body and was a liver transplant recipient …so died with covid is more accurate

Do we need a "splitting hairs" thread?

Man, am I ever the outlier :o (still haven't gotten it, as far as I know)

Just had covid. Was on an Alaskan cruise. I was nose picking…but not my nose.
I've felt like ass all week. Many of same symptoms that I had when I had COVID. Took a test, no COVID. Good thing too, I'm about to embark on a trip to a conference, visiting friends and family as part of the trip. That's my non-COVID story.
Hey Cock, are cruises really necessary when it comes to exploring Alaska?

Personally I hate cruises, but in Alaska there’s tons of coastline and that whole area where Juneau is not accessible by roads so Boat are plane the only way to get there (I did not take a cruise nor go to Juneau)
Most bang for the buck is the Kenai Peninsula
I really want to go to back to Alaska. It’s one of the most beautiful places.
We did a land tour and cruise of Alaska. I'm not a big cruise guy but I really enjoyed it. I spent a lot of time with my binoculars viewing the spectacular coastline and the waters and glaciers. Lots of whale sightings, otters, seals, etc. from the boat. The cruise left from Vancouver (very nice) and went up to Whittier. Then the land portion went to Anchorage on the way to Denali, and then Fairbanks. If you are the type that needs great onboard activities, then I probably wouldn't recommend. If you are looking for amazing beauty then yeah I would recommend. We went on Holland America and the food was really good. Highly recommend having a balcony. It didn't get completely dark at night and sunset was as late as 11:30 up in Fairbanks.
Last caveat…a lot of the stops were very touristy but some excursions were great.

Sorry for your family's illnesses and Hetfield, whoever that is.
Covid hospitalizations and deaths right now (best measure we have left since they stopped counting cases) are a small fraction of what they were even a year ago. I think we'll survive.
