COVID-19 2020

Need groceries but think wearing a mask is un-American?  Head on over to Winn-Dixie! No mask required! Just a waiver, maybe.
What about, the Piggly Wiggly?
Fudge…had plans for a NY visit in Aug

how quaint that they think folks will actually self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.  bubba just flew across the country to visit mom, and now he's supposed to hole up in a hotel for 2 weeks?  it's the right thing to do, but i seriously question the level of compliance this is going to enjoy.  we can't even get a significant portion of the population to wear a mask for 30 minute while they grocery shop - does anyone think these same people are going self-isolate for any amount of time?  i supposed it gives authorities a framework to go after folks, after the fact…

Gov. Cuomo just flew to Georgia for some COVID related business, and he's not quarantining upon arrival back home.

I was just up in upstate NY (in a county with numbers much lower than NoVA, where i was still diligently distancing and masking and avoiding anything indoors other than my host's house), visiting my family over July 4 weekend….long before VA was added to this list…my brother wouldn't let me drive us around in my more comfortable car for fear we'd be harassed by the locals because of my VA tags.

Welp…that bumper table idea ended horribly

Fish Tales in Ocean City, MD

We regret to inform you that Fish Tales will be closed until further notice. It was brought to our attention tonight that 3 of our staff members have tested positive for Covid-19. Upon receiving this news, we immediately closed
Ok hoping you guys cAn help make sense here

NY state has had 435,000 covid cases with 32,600 deaths

CA has had 410,000 covid cases with 8,000 deaths

FL has had 370,000 covid cases with 5,200 deaths

TX has had 357,000 covid cases with 4,300 deaths

So, obvious question why so much higher death rate in NY?

One theory could be that NY had a much higher number of covid cases than testing demonstrated or TX, CA, FL?

It’s a huge difference
According to JHU CA has more cases than NY now…

But only 25% of deaths?

I have heard that treatment methods are much more effective now than they were in March/April
So a good thing I guess
Or the virus strain in NYC was more virulent?

Amazing nobody even mentions it and people keep parroting what a great job Cuomo did!!! I mean did he?
It could also be that the NY cases hit more people with greater risk factors and therefore had a greater death rate.

But I guessing that there is a great deal more testing going on now. CA is probably catching more people who are positive and asymptomatic, while NY probably focused on testing people with symptoms.

That is also being said
Obviously there are soo many unknowns

Also as Heilu said could be the way they were doing the testing and weren't catching the Asymptomatic super spreaders early

Sounds like some people are much better than others at spreading it around

I think this reaction is based on where you get your news from

So, with me being a high-school dropout, you would imagine that the current debate surrounding the reopening of schools wouldn’t register so much as a blip on my rock-and-roll radar, right? Wrong.

My mother was a public-school teacher.

Instead of sending people stimulus checks, why not send them RAPID Covid tests (did i hear that they cost $1-$5?) People  could self test three times a week. And then require employers to fully fund sick leave if someone tests positive?
That would make too much sense…
You know Bill Gates can't be trusted as he's trying to microchip us*
