Day 1: @POTUS  set a goal of vaccinating 100 million people in 100 days.

Day 33: We’re already halfway there.

Looks like we'll reach 100 Million shots 31 days early

so do we call them the 'do-something-dems' now

Seemingly everyone felt the 100 million target significantly undershot

I do think it’s an accomplishment nonetheless
We played Fountains of Wayne as we drove this morning to get our first jabs.
Waiting 15 minutes post-jab, they were playing "Won't Get Fooled Again." Seemed like my 80 year old "I'm not letting them put that poison into me" mom was playing DJ.

Congrats!
That’s great space

Am jealous…

Although I been informed that even if I get the shot I have to live my life like I haven’t cause I could pass on the covid to my kids who haven’t been vaccinated

I plan on doing everything the same, except I'll fly for the first time in July, with unvaccinated kid. She also wants me to take her to King's Dominion again this year…something we've been doing together every year (except 2020) since she was little…would be hard to say no to that one.

If your kid has no health risks, the chances of having a serious case of COVID are very, very low.

A pretty far removed cousin had his around ten year old son catch covid recently and go through hell and the kid still isn’t recovered…hospitalized and everything.. real suffering … kid had no preexisting issues

But like you am sure will do some things differently…. still, doesn’t seem like bars or concerts are in my future for a good long time…

I've heard hearsay that Moderna will have a vaccine ready for 12-15 year olds prior to the start of school. Are your kids in that range?

Also, wouldn't your kids be more endangered by being around (many) other unvaccinated kids all day in school than from their (one) vaccinated dad going to a concert a couple times a week?

They're in phase 3 of a trial around children and phase 2 of a trial around infants but I do not know the age ranges for where those two split off.

We chose to keep our kids home when we had the option of sending them to school two days a week… we want them to be as anti social and fucked up as possible…but alive

I assume by the time September rolls around they will go back to school and have been vaccinated

But before I had assumed once I got vaccinated I could go back to relative normal and this does not seem to be the case… so while I want the vaccine I am not as excited any more… I realize this is selfish..

so no more Mr. Give it to me

looks like the masks may be here for a while longer…even with the vax, which is a bummer
Well no I still want it just to be sure I don’t die

Although I am so careful… and it’s so much less out there… the odds of me getting it are low.. I hardly do anything
to be honest, I wish we knew a little more about how it spreads

Yes masks work…but it isn't only spreading from non-mask wearers
Does it seem that people who are wearing masks are still getting it
are people getting from touching the door handle at the grocery store and wiping their eyes later?
We may never know, but I was kind of feeling that cleaning the groceries with bleach really didn't make much of an impact on transmission.  My feeling is that it has a short life span in the open air, especially in sunlight.  So if someone coughs on an outdoor picnic bench, the chance of catching that a few seconds later is low.
But if you are in a bar and cough on the table or in the bathroom, that could linger on surfaces for minutes or hours and definitely in the air that is being recirculated

But are people getting it in their eyes even if they are wearing masks when someone coughs up the road or in a grocery store?

My feeling is the risk is people are out there, infected and spending time with others in enclosed rooms for extended periods of time
and because it can take two weeks to show symptoms, it's impossible to know who is sick infected

I still think the deployment of rapid testing to everyone and every location in the US should be a part of the plan going forward
I think it would be great if I went to a restaurant or concert and prior to admission, you had to take a rapid test
Wouldn't be fool proof or 100%, but would let those who may not even know they were infected…stop spreading and isolate immediately
that in conjunction with massive vax rollout

I'm sure excon will detail this out, so this was more of a prompt for him or Julian to respond
Thank you for laying the groundwork Stingy
I have heard of very little talk of massive rapid testing
