I'm resigned to school not coming back in person this school year. I hope they can get it started in Fall 2021, when my kid will be a freshwoman.
It’s such a debacle for my kids…just spent 30 stressful minutes trying to get my 8 year old on his summer school meeting…

All that for a 5 minute check in meeting that taught him 0

just because testing & paying folks to stay home worked in suppressing the virus in all other countries doesn't mean it'll work here.  get real.
1 million new documented Covid19 cases in 15 days America….or 66666.66/ day

So now the CDC wants us to open schools

did trump take out his sharpie on this?

This is also kinda scary too
People who have had mild to moderate COVID-19 can come out of isolation after 10 days and don't need to be retested before going back to work, new CDC guidelines say.

remember when republicans tried to scare us with obama's "death panels"?  yeah, that aged well:

COVID-19 patients will be ‘sent home to die’ if deemed too sick, Texas county says
A county health board – which governs Starr Memorial – is set to authorize critical care guidelines Thursday that will help medical workers determine ways to allocate scarce medical resources on patients with the best chance to survive. (…)  “Unfortunately, Starr County Memorial Hospital has limited resources and our doctors are going to have to decide who receives treatment, and who is sent home to die by their loved ones”

absolutely heart-breaking.
There is something to dying with your family in your home vs. in a hospital surrounded by bright lights/beeping machines all alone most of the time.

The effort to extend life vs the quality of life is big and something most Americans are not comfortable with
I'm a supporter of in home hospice
If you're not from DC, and you're not from one of the 17 states that are still allowed non-quarantined entry entry into New York State, you're going to have to quarantine for 14 days upon entry into DC. VA and MD are excepted, but if they weren't, they'd have to quarantine.

Home hospice requires some level of professional assistance, right? Wonder whether those kind of resources are available there.

completely agreed - but i want it to be a choice.  in this case, a panel is choosing for you whether or not granddad gets an ICU bed and treatment.

For sure, but the cost to the hospital/insurance co/government pales in comparison to keeping someone in the hospitable for a few hours

So what if you fly to BWI, Dulles or National, then uber to DC?  Then you're OK?

You're ok if you're coming from one of the exempted states (VA, MD, and about 17 or so others)", otherwise you need to quarantine for 14 days. This applies if you're a resident of one of the 35 states, or if you're a DC resident who has visited one of them.

*35 is a rough estimate.

The crazy thing is you could hit the bars in VA Beach for a week and be exempt from this, but hit a remote cabin in NC for a week (or a day) and it would apply.

The American Federation of Teachers has authorized local and state strikes if schools reopen without certain safety measures in place.
Yikes…this is going to all get way worse before it gets better
Texas Rep. LOUIE GOHMERT has tested positive for the coronavirus.
