COVID-19 2020

you may be right, but it's got people talking about it and it may have very well been the tipping point for some

Your boy EF-D seems to think so

But will a free drink or a $100 payment actually convince anyone to get vaccinated?

“It gets at the low-hanging fruit”—people who aren’t actively opposed to vaccination but may have been too busy or apathetic to make an appointment, says Eric Feigl-Ding, an epidemiologist and health economist at the Federation of American Scientists. “The hardcore denialists are not going to budge after being bribed with a beer or a $100 savings bond.”

Axios-Harris poll found that 31% of unvaccinated Americans say they’ll either “get the vaccine whenever they get around to it” or “will wait awhile and see before getting the vaccine.” That suggests a significant number of people fall somewhere between eager for and opposed to vaccination. Incentives could help bring them in the door.

Honestly the people who want to believe this is great are beer drinkers who want another reason to feel good about drinking beer

BTW these are the only people talking about it! Beer drinkers that really believe in vaccinations …

Will some people take advantage of this offer after being vaccinated? No doubt

Is this going to be the tipping point for anyone? Of course not
I think they should extend the free beer offer to 16-20 year olds. Although they might prefer hard seltzer.
Honestly, a bong hit would probably go better or maybe some mushrooms
I'd do it for a cap

again, this is an incentive to get those who were going to get it, but can't seem to make the time

I'd like to hear stats on this, your poo-pooing this, but what if it got 1000 people to get the vax months and months earlier than before
I think incentives work
You just really really want to believe this don’t you?

Fine

I'll take that as you think Eric Feigl-Ding is wrong
I don't believe a free beer convinces anyone to get a vaccine who otherwise wouldn't unless they literally set up at the brewery and go "that'll be $9 . . . or my associate here can give you a jab right now." Then, maybe.

$100, OTOH, absolutely moves the needle.

He has been wrong

A classic just a week ago when a rate - cannot remember what-went up from 2.6 to 3.2 - all within margin of error and he said there had been a 30% increase and started freaking ..maybe some variant

He loves to freak people out…everything is bad

He did apologize

Incentives work at some point.. if you accept a 12 oz beer moves people to get Vaccinated do you think an 8 ounce beer does it!!? A 4 ounce taste? Would a free ounce of beer work!?

x
here we go, this is a good incentive

I think Jules said it, but Jiffy Lube and MPP and other big outdoor venues this summer should have a few tables set up
I guess the only problem is, you don't feel that great…and probably shouldn't drink a ton while far from home
over on this side, local major league sports teams have started offering covid shots at home games: both the Mariners and the Sounders have on-site walk-up vaccination clinics inside the stadium.  they've even offering a choice of J&J or moderna, and can book your appointment for the second moderna shot on the spot at one of the city's mass vaccination sites.

"bah, it's the bottom of the order… let's go grab a beer and a shot."
Been saying this… but even I was thinking a bit lower

For perspective this would be about 1 in 336 Americans

Getting closer to the “Spanish flu” numbers which albeit estimates are more along the lines of 1 in 200

If we use 594,000 dead we get about 1 in 552 Americans have died from covid

damn…that's a good incentive…although could seriously make him broke

anyone that comes with vaccine papers, that proves that has been vaccinated will get $50 gift certificate for any of
@thinkfoodgroup  restaurants in the @washingtondc area…

I'm pretty sure Jose at this point is more focused on his humanitarian efforts than his restaurants…

An excellent offer to encourage people to get vaccinated. Alternatively, one can forego their vaccine protection and become an incubator for more aggressive COVID19 mutations all while accepting nearly all the risk of infection.

Probably doesn't include alcohol and that's where the real profit margins are….

Or, he's just being nice.  Imagine that.

This is absolutely what we should be doing.

I like that idea. Might be more effective if they spread the wealth and split the million between 100 10K winners. That would definitely be enough dollars to entice some people to get vaccinated, and with 100 winners people would think they had a legit shot.

Though the Republicans will never be about spreading the wealth.
