Looking at the percentage of deaths and critical cases compared to total cases, I want to know why it affects Italians so much more than Germans.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countriesAnd on a separate note, why is the CDC not releasing any statistics related to age, gender, and underlying conditions?

my wife got tested this afternoon because she's had some low-grade symptoms. she said the test hurt like hell. they jammed the swab down her nose until it reaches the back of her throat.
in other news:
-
Spain has nationalized all of its private hospitals as the country goes into coronavirus lockdown (missed this bit of communist expansion when it happened 9 days ago)
-
TV networks cut away from the White House coronavirus briefing as Trump contradicted his health experts (finally)

Been almost two decades since I've been to Murphy's
this is oddly specific, but I guess that's a good thing

Probably going to put that great place out of business :(

It sounds like the bill is just spreading a lot of money around… a lot of it for pointless stuff…disappointing
The goal should not be to waste a ton of money
I guess you could argue give the Kennedy Center money and a lot of it will end up being paid to people but…they book shows so get kind of a subsidy
It’s all a clusterfuck I guess

Yeah, seems like their idea of compromise is
"Well, you 50mill for that, I should get $70 mil for my thing"
"wow that is a great compromise, let's get that in the bill"
this was good

the ads of late using his own words have been pretty brutal on this
if he did one or two pressers a week, he'd probably be in better shape

yikes…
This morning the Department of Labor is expected to announce that as many as 3.4 million people filed for unemployment insurance last week.
Not only would that be the highest level in history, it would be nearly five times the highest level of claims seen during the Great Recession. This was good…

Germany is classifying cause of death differently than Italy so that partially explains the difference in numbers/percentages. I learned this watching an Italian broadcast earlier this week.*
If a German has an underlying medical issue and COVID 19 then COVID 19 is not listed as cause of death. Whereas an Italian who has an underlying medical issue and COVID 19 then COVID 19 is listed as cause of death. I believe this is also presenting in the US as states are following different reporting protocols.
I will dig around and see if I can find the broadcast again as well as the article (either in the Post or Times).*
*Of course, I take neither source at face value as the situation changes hourly, just another way to consider things. These are just some other details to help form your own opinions on this.

3.28 million unemployment claims
Interesting to read economists think we will go into a recession and rebound later in year
That last part seems a highly optimistic reading of the situation to me

In all seriousness and this could possibly merrit its own thread. How's everyone's current mental health status?
I'd say I'm at about a 4.125/10 today… Definitely the worst I've felt over the past few weeks.
