dunno about as far back as april, but fender has been making this offer for a while - they recently announced that they were extending it, which reminded me to post it here.

I'm a bit shook by this picture of Marshall Crenshaw with long hair, although given he was born in 1953 this was likely taken early 70s and this would have been the look at the time.. plus I found that via his Wiki page he had a band called Astigfa (an acronym for "a splendid time is guaranteed for all", a lyric from The Beatles' "Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite").
me thinks antifa should rebrand as Astigfa

speaking of the Welsh Music Prize, I haven't heard all the nominees for this year, but man the Gruff Rhys - Pang and the Right Hand Left Hand - Rogue Zone albums are two of best I've heard in the last year…
if your a fan of the post\math rock stuff ala Trans Am, this a great album

not sure what Jules will be tipping seeing as it's Canadian, but 89X is now Pure Country 89

Oh man that’s a bummer. It was so weird moving away from there for the first time (back in the terrestrial radio days) and discovering the rest of America did not know who The Tragically Hip, Sloan, or Finger Eleven were and that Our Lady Peace was not a megaband. People thought Crash Test Dummies were a one-hit wonder!
Attended several a Night 89X Stole Christmas back in the day at Cobo.

both 89x and CJAM with their pesky Canadian Content additions, certainly brought lots of great stuff on to the Detroit air waves.. In addition to Jules's list, I would add The Pursuit Of Happiness, Pure, 13 Engines and it was eluding me for a minute but also the short lived group Twenty Four Gone with a dead brilliant single "Girl Of Colours"… this record got a bit rare at one point and one of the DJs played it's in entirety once ;)

Don't remember Twenty Four Gone but the other 3 for sure. Pure were great! They were in Cool World (a film that does not hold up AT ALL but was amazing at like 12). It was really jarring moving away and realizing bands you thought "everybody" knew were absolutely non-entities in 99% of the country.

ouch.
i mean, i understand that acting/comedy is canada's greatest entertainment export, but you can't deny the music that has come from up north: celine dion, bryan adams, justin bieber, the RCMP marching band… the list goes on and on.
