More info on the Gallagher Squire album

The Guardian was given an early listen to the LP. With an appealingly raw, crunching and immediate production sound, the energised songs are at the heavy end of Britpop with stomping rhythms, burly riffs and poignant, brightly melodious top lines. Blues, garage and psych-rock are also major components, and unsurprisingly, the Beatles are a touchstone, namely the pop-psychedelia of their post-Revolver period.

Also,

The first single, Just Another Rainbow – which somewhat evokes the Stone Roses’ Waterfall and has a funky, spirited solo from Squire

Demos were worked up in Squire’s Macclesfield studio before full sessions in Los Angeles. Superproducer and pop songwriter Greg Kurstin plays bass, with Joey Waronker on drums – as well as playing with REM and Beck, Waronker is a supergroup veteran, having played in Atoms for Peace with Thom Yorke, Flea and others.

as implied, I'm sure this will become an annual occurrence
I know things changed a long time ago but man the contrast between 60s Vegas and now

Someone should make a meme with the rat pack in tuxes on one side and a bunch of scuzzy hippies on the other

I'm sure as well… but I also fear the end is nigh.

Except the amount of "hippies" that attend Phish or Dead concerts is practically nil these days… especially in Vegas. Replace the rat pack with a bunch of waxed chest meatballs.

Speakin' of The Velvet Underground and forum favorite, Luna… there's some great footage going around of their VU NYE Set.

I really hope this is not going to sully the otherwise pristine reputation of avant-garde jazz metal musicians everywhere as a result.
