Ive always felt that the excessive compression on Signals - which renders it unlistenable - is one of the worst tragedies of the era.
I mean, besides the, y’know, actual problems.
What I’m trying to say is that it’s a great album that’s painful to listen to. I sometimes still do though.
Wow. I do not agree assuming you are talking about Rush…was just playing in car last week..just a regular American version with the atom design on cd
I mean maybe I don’t know what excessive compression sounds like
It’s not brickwalled or ear fatiguing

yeah, i was confused too… i had to google "Signals" to see if any other bands released a similarly titled album, didn't find anything.
HOWEVER, per the googles, apparently Signals does get knocked for being much more compressed/bricked than anything they had put out before that. wasn't something i ever noticed… the shift to more keyboards probably also contributes to the wall-of-sound effect.

Never noticed then again my first copy was a super shitty Argentine cassette.
But I have listened to lp and cd and never noticed
What I do knock is that the album feels a bit slight to me…. I like it a lot but it’s no moving pictures or grace or power windows
Obviously subdivisions is amazing….the reggae tune..pfft

TIL that each speaker in a line array runs between $10k and $20k, so a full setup could reach $250k 😮

Always been glad am not an audiophile. I mean I hate brickwalled music which literally hurts my ears but other than that I blast it and it sounds great. Was reading about all this autotune applied to Freddie’s voice in those Queen 74 CDs and I just don’t hear it!! Thank god. For some it ruins their enjoyment of the music and they get really bothered and angry

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett & Robert Trujillo did Fugazi’s “Waiting Room” during their doodle at Wednesday night’s (5/28) DC-area show.
Ian MacKaye was reportedly in the audience with a smile on his face during the jam, a “reliable source”

This made me chuckle
Breaking 🚨: Taylor Swift happily announces that she now owns all of her albums, including her 6 initial ones.

We can still get
Reputation (Taylor’s Version) if Mike Pence has the courage . . .

I did not have Robbie Williams releasing a monster banger of a tune with Tony Iommi on guitar, but here it is… Also, him calling the new album "Britpop" should put many noses out of joint. In the video he's wearing a t-shirt with the Motorhead logo that says Milli Vanilli
now about that promised US tour ;D

More like a Hutch fan!!
I was listening to the Kicker two days ago….he really didn’t say much and the two points I would make: same musicians as Grant Green’s Idle moments which is legendary AND the kicker was unreleased for decades.

Hmmph. Do they have an “import from setlist.fm” button. Cause I’m not retyping 40+ years of concerts.
