Today I did learned that Voice of the Beehive did in fact want to do it with the Barbarian in that back of the car. The bleep left it vague, but a live version included on the “Let It Bee” reissue cleared up that mystery :D
Musicological banter

so this video has been making the rounds and is worth 8:45 of your time: Chad Smith Hears Thirty Seconds To Mars For The First Time. the video has generated a whole ecosystem of reaction videos by musicians and music teachers that universally praise the performance.
i know, i know, haters gonna say "turrible drummer on a turrible song"… but give it a chance.

in my opinion it is… sorry, didn't call out "IMO", thought it was obvious…
I just have zero interest in mouse on Mars or RHCP so I don’t think it’s worth my time….
8:45 is a big ask
30 seconds to Mars is horrific with RHCP not far behind, but that was worth watching… and Chad Smith is likable.

dunno if that was on purpose or a subconscious slip, but mouse on mars is a german electronic duo who had their heyday in the late 90's and early 00's that are worth checking out if you're into eclectic german electronica.
It’s too late for me I am afraid.
Save yourselves if you haven’t heard mouse on Mars yet!

agreed. what a great concept: have a drummer improv a part upon first listen. i wonder if there are any attempts that got left on the cutting room floor, i.e. the drummer couldn't pull together something decent. i have to imagine the drummer has right of refusal (aka veto on airing a shitty attempt).
I learned from the Wikipedia that the Guilty bit in Erasure’s “Drama!” was provided by Scottish band the Jesus and Mary Chain, who were recording in the studio next door.
Oasis reunion is status Definitely Maybe with Liam announcing a run of UK dates celebrating the 30th Anniversary for the album. Noel has probably sacked his entire management team for allowing Liam to be him to the punch on this one.
