I'm so bummed I didn't stay for that. I was in LA this weekend and we had tickets, but the last flight was too early for me to go to the match. My brother-in-law was there and said he was treated fairly well by everybody but the Riot group area.
And yes he totally deserves it, but he's been through this before. The fans will forget if he plays well (he was pretty good yesterday, but Donovan was better) and the Galaxy start winning. Apparently Landy Cakes also sent a keg or two out to the Riot group pregame tailgate party which won him a ton of support. Clever bastard.
That being said, this is Becks last season in MLS.
after watching the last half of houston/toronto and all of chelsea/seattle i realized that the prem cant start soon enough, even if my team isnt in it. and that i need more hobbies
becks jumped the barricade and rushed the crowd?!? lucky for him that more drunks didn't take him up on the offer…

Haha….the other day I presented a new Tech plan for out AV system in the bedroom and Smackette said "Isn't there a soccer game or something that you could watch instead? That season can't start soon enough…."
Becks was simply trying to shake hands with the guy who was telling him that he wishes his wife would get cancer again. That's all.

i was all ready today to make fun of crouch snubbing the mackems this morning. then i read that (supposedly) the toon players are being told that hughton is going to be in charge for 'at least a few' regular season matches

Independiente! tiempo de volver donde debe estar, rey de copas.
Maybe one of you will care, but my buddy Matt "Money" Smith had Landy Cakes on his LA Radio show today and I clearly briefed him on a few questions/comments I would like Money to ask. See if you can find which nuggets were me (one of which I dropped earlier in this thread).
i dont have speakers at work, but please tell me he asked landon if he bought the riot group a couple kegs
:54 - You were a real young dude when a-holes like me were piling on a bit, asking when we might get more from a guy who many think could be the best US soccer player ever. Was that fair?
LD - it was fair. I didn't have it figured out like I do now…
——
1:23 - was this summer an audition for you to return to Europe?
LD - Contract issues, dedicated to LA, but if anybody calls you, could you let me know? (later on he said "Let me know if Barcelona call" and then when asked about his struggles international is it your "stature" or "is it just you're not interested")
——-
1:30 - Why didn't that French D-bag Ribery ever pass you the ball at Bayern Munich?
No comment, but he did laugh.
——
4:59- True or not true, that little group of hardcore fans, the riot squad. Do you provide them with libations prior, I've heard…word on the street is that maybe Landon Donovan….
LD: (laughing) Who told you that?
…I've got some friends that might be in that little section say that he's been known to maybe drop off a couple cases of some beverages to the people, just to show his appreciation…
LD: (laughing) I'm contrubuting to the booing and their riotness, huh?
…Donovan, I've just heard that from a couple people….
LD: Um, no comment.
