Bummer about Beasley. He was coming back into his '02 form with Rangers. Now we have to fall back on Convey…who I hope proves me wrong when I say he won't be international quality again.

In other news, here's to Fulham stomping Man U at Old Trafford.

today's match is big. the uninspired performances and baffling team selections have lost the geordie faithful and the locker room. supposedly sam wants to sell given and bring in the finn from bolton (i'm not even going to try and spell his name) which could well trigger riots in the bigg market. i dont think that newcastle need to win today to save sam, or even get a point, but they have to at least LOOK good. saturday against brum, different story :(

GOOD GOD!! The quarter finals are group C!!!!
I just got a tip that Drogba's out 3-4 months, but I have yet to confirm this with a reliable media source.
newcastle was the superior side yesterday. good to see a spirited performance, there is hope yet. alan smith was awesome last night, please play him up top sam

oh and you're welcome manusa fans. sorry we couldnt take all 3

Couldn't agree more. The team looked strong and that was the Alan Smith I think United wanted. They probably should have played him up front instead of the midfield if they wanted that type of performance.
yeah, i dont think dukes is totally fit either. kind of makes it a nobrainer to start smith. but even so, smith just brings more to the table than dukes, although smudger doesnt have a great goal scoring record.

in any event, duff should be back soon, so hopefully sam will move milner back to the right and achieve some balance. geremi is not a winger

the anc is going to be rough for the toon. any idea if it'll be on tv in the states?

You know, I haven't heard. Setanta had the Asian Cup, but they don't list the ANC on their web site. I'll look into it.

And United is in real trouble too with the ANC. Oh wait, they don't have any Africans (Frenchies don't count). Nevermind.
hunh, not one african player. didnt realize that. newcastle does have more than most

..so I guess there is an advantage to having a core of home-grown players then… ;)

i was obviously trying to wind manc up, but man u hardly has that many more brits/irish players than newcastle. newcastle just loves the african players
