On the Eve of the new Season...

Ouch.

However I'm going to refrain from additional comments as a similar complaint was waged against United by Le Havre for taking France's youth team skipper Paul Pogba.  Hopefully this was by the book, but just in case…

its fifa and uefa targeting big spending english clubs. coming from a chelsea hater, this is an overly harsh punishment (newcastle got fined less than £700k for the zogs affair if i remember correctly) and just brings us one step closer to a european super league
Hutch, I promise not to mention Argentina for the rest of the day.

After watching two US Matches, I can't wait for the Prem League to start back up. Painful to watch that squad…

Less so for me.  I'll be watching Shitty-Arse because I know ESPN has been showing the scores across the bottom.  That game has the potential to be too good to know the ending of ahead of time (and I have to watch United live).  Now if ESPN didn't show the ticker, I'd watch the HD game first.  Either way, gonna be a long day for this guy with all the footie and college football.
yeah i guess youre right. i could give a toss if i know the result of the liverpool match

i'll likely dvr united and penn state and stay up way too late
have you considered taping something to the bottom of your tv, so as to block the ticker?  it's lame, but i've done it before…

Yes, I've use party streamers, but tomorrow's a busy day and I can't justify watching a crappy football match just because it's in HD when there's many sports to watch (I forgot NASCAR was under the lights tomorrow as well).  If it were a better game I'd break out the party streamer and tape it across the bottom to hide the ticker.

For United, check your regional sports network.  I plan on recording FSN West.

Barca/Inter is being carried on Fox Sports Espanol and is not available in HD on DirecTV, thus no HD feed.
bummer, barca/inter is easily the best match. i'll dvr man u if its on csn hd though

Agreed.  Inter Barca not in HD is a crime.

642 is your CSN right?  It's listed as being in HD.
BTW - Manchester 7 - North London 3.
i'm kind of kicking myself for not watching it. i really only got to see the shitty arse match this weekend, and i'll be at my cousin's bachelor party all of next weekend. would have been nice to watch a second match, but i did catch entirely too much college football this weekend
The Premier League has announced that from next season every team must name a squad of 25 players, of which eight must be home grown.

"As of next season clubs will be required to have a squad named of up to 25 players, of which no more than 17 can be over the age of 21 and not home grown.

"The definition of home grown is trained for three years under the age of 21 by somebody in the English and Welsh professional system. Clubs will have to declare their 25 at the end of August when the window shuts and then again at the end of January.

silly rule in my opinion

I love these kinds of articles…

I was going to comment but then I figured "You know what, if I say something I'll just be insulted some more so fuck it.."
