They're not really a separate country are they? I've always considered them the 51st state. Take that Puerto Rico!

16. It'll get drowned out by football in America.
The World Cup is the only time when mainstream America pays attention to soccer. If it has to compete with the NFL it'd be a disaster, especially if it's held in January and goes up against the playoffs.

No one in America cares about the World Cup. They can hold it on the 4th of July and people still won't care. Most of the reason given are pretty lame except the worker conditions and the lack of beer.

No one?
Plenty of people do..Its full of bars that show Premier League and people go on weekends to watch the games early in the morning! You don't see all the people driving cars with Barcelona, Real or whatever logos? I guess hispanics Americans don't count for you??? 53 million plus of them don't count? They're nobodies.
And they're not even the ones watching Premier League games…
The MLS League? Nobody cares about that…Nobody in Seattle cares..they only average about 44,000 plus for home games!!!!!!! Those people don't exist in the Atomic world.
Come on now dude… the "nobody in the US cares about soccer" argument is played out man… the new New York City Football Club just signed David Villa for crying out loud. You may not know who he is but plenty of people do.

Its not enough of them for FIFA to change their schedule due to avoid NFL playoffs.

I mean what do you want me to say Atomic? You're full of shit as usual.
You said nobody cares about the World Cup. Well that's bullshit and you know it but if that's the way you feel stay away from this thread. I think you're trolling is what you're doing.
I care and know plenty of people who do. This idea that its only foreigners or illegal immigrants is highly offensive.

I said Americans in general don't care. I know two people who care a lot. One is from South Africa the other is from South Korea. I will be watching and hopefully the Germans can pull it out.

so do the 53 million hispanic Americans not count? That is a lot of people and they care…
the argument that "Americans" don't care is idiocy… we don't live in a Leave it to Beaver world
is soccer or the World Cup as popular as the NFL, NBA, MLB??? Of course not but so what?
If Americans in general don't care I don't see why ESPN is permanently talkinga bout soccer…its not like the old days man…goals are now included in the top 10 plays regularly, the ticker/crawl at the bottom has a lot of soccer info… there are premier league games regularly on NBC for crying out loud..
times are changing…
