Are we trying to ruin the post concert buzz? Poor form
Given jam band shows are overwhelmingly men it’s probably a much smaller number of women having to deal with this societal plague (although a hire percentage of female attendees)
Now that I am at a lot more shows sober and looking more for issues I do observe this behavior more…gross

I think it would be really difficult to find a woman who's been to a bunch of shows who hasn't been grabbed at least once. Sadly, we are used to it.

By no means a #metoo moment…but I distinctly remember being at a punk show in the late 80's in NYC and some guy grabbed my suburban teenage ass
I was a little shocked and immediately joined in the pit to get away
I couldn't imagine what it would be like if that happened on a regular basis, not only at concerts but a work too

Three Shows:
Tuesday: GBV at Ottobar: I had a headache pre-show, it didn't get better. Spent part of the show drinking water near the bar, and left at the Encore. Hung with Vas, Chatted with Bagley, Saw Hutch, but he doesnt remember/recognize me. Excellent Poster.
Friday: Ted Leo & Rx with Frankie Rose on a boat in NY Harbor. Beautiful Friday night on the boat. Bands play on the first deck, 2nd deck is for food and bev, and top deck is both the smoker's area and the best view of the city and statue of liberty. Hung out top deck during most of Frankie Rose, who seemed cool but out of place on this bill - synthy pop… As the sunset occurred, the statue of liberty lit up and that was fun to see.
Ted & Rx were great; but I admit to bias. Awkward fanboy moment: I wore my Titus Andronicus t-shirt, and, okay, I know that the drummer Chris Wilson is in both bands, but I didn't know that Patrick Stickes and RJ (Bass player from Titus) would also be onboard. So I ended up being the guy at the show wearing the t-shirt of the band partially playing the show and partially attending….dork. Afterwards, walked around 10 mins and found really good pizza at Melani Pizzeria on Rivington near Delancey. Two slices of quality Pizza and a drink - $5.
Saturday: Toured the 911 museum. I had been to the memorial before but not the museum. It was a grueling but quality and necessary experience. Randomly, high school friend who I remember driving me and my girlfriend to see elvis costello at forest hills tennis stadium (or was it Jones Beach… it may've been both) and who was killed at the North Tower, is featured in a display case on the main floor of the main room of the museum. Freaked me out. Finished the day at Pizza Suprema behind MSG; best traditional NY slices IMHO.
Saturday night we saw Tall Heights, Ben Folds, Cake at MPP. Hadn't seen BF in many years. This time he was backed by Tall Heights (cello, acoustic guitar, drums, and harmonica). Solid set of songs from Ben and this band from Ben's various incarnations. Cake were great when actually playing. John takes a lot of pauses between songs, and seems to proceed without a real setlist. He spends around 9 minutes mid-set giving away a sapling to a member of the audience. He ran out of time so MPP had to bring the houselights up and the sound volume down for the 2nd and final encore song: The Distance. The vibe here was that John has FU $, and is not all that interested in entertaining ….
PS: learned that the concrete areas above the pavillion seating will become boxes, and VIP "lawn" seats next year, accessible via elevator only.

No worries.
I wasn't feeling great, and going up to you amidst the loud GBV and yelling at you "I am Challenged!" didn't seem like a good plan.

some serious bonin' in the boneyard last night
these guys sure know how to entertain
Great set list and audience.
I will say a mosh pit with a bunch of 40something balding pears is not a very dangerous place to be, but fun nonetheless
probably 2/3rds filled (even with all the free tix from the ticketbastard settlement)
Although personal HIGHlight for me was after the the show I went around back
and got to chat and share a J with "Dirty" Walter A. Kibby II

Agreed. Happy I got a chance to see those guys again.
Thought the sound was pretty lousy, though.

Had a free ticket for fishbone, but bailed on the show. Played a board game with my kids instead. #oldage

My too. Couldn't fight through the jetlag and the messed up redline.

yes…I meant to mention that, but I agree the sound could have been waay better
Also on that note…why was the drummer facing the back of the stage…is that for the vocalist who get overpowered by the drums?

I know, WTF had no idea it was just going to end a galudet
They did have the bus shuttle, but that seemed like it would have taken another hour
had to pay for an Lyft, which was kinda expensive from there
kinda feel like my trip from UDC to Galudet should have been at a discounted too …but alas there is probably a metro bitch thread

I saw them in `88 and Fish (the drummer) was set up like that. I think it has something to do with him being able to play with no distractions. At least last night he talked to the crowd, he used to never interact with the audience. The Oxymorrons were pretty intense as well. The sound was really bad, couldn't hear the sax or Kibby's trumpet and when Dowd sang, his mike was so long it was hard to hear him over the music. Though the sound did get better for the encore. I was glad to see the (almost) original lineup again and nothing but stuff from the beginning to "The Reality of My Surroundings" (one exception being "Alcoholic").

Caught Mac DeMarco in LA last week. I've seen some insane shows in my day but that one may take the cake. He certainly lives up to his reputation.
Beach House was great as always. Sound could have been a little better but the set list was solid.

they were great…long awaited and I feel they delivered
so glad they played the anthem, would have sucked at a big outdoor venue IMO
I didn't wear my ear plugs and was center stage about 1/2 way back and I thought the sound mix (and lights) were tight
Bernard's voice isn't the greatest to begin with, so vocals were kinda weak
Personally I really missed Hooky and his killer bass riffs that all those JD and early NO songs just ride on
There was a guy playing the notes, but they didn't have that bite and forward placement that for me was the core to that sound
the Low Life songs (Love Vigilantes!) were really the highlight and of course Temptation
thank god they didn't play World in Motion
They really mixed it up on Perfect Kiss and nailed it and turned it in to a rave up (crowd was so-so on a lot of the songs…may have been my placement)
They closed with Blue Monday into a killer Temptation and came on for a Joy Division encore Atmosphere->She's Lost Control->LWTUA
I do think they went a little overboard with the Ian images. I think it was merited…for a song. But again, I kept thinking of the other founding member who was in some of those photos. Blue Monday and Atmosphere sounded great, but I didn't think SLC and LWTUA were their best performances of the night (again no hooky and how they heck can you have LWTUA without that killer bass…and he even does a better job doing IC vocals too)
This does come off like a negative review, it really was a great show…I'm just particular when it comes to this band (and their bassist)
Edit…for got the Us :)

Could that really have been the first New Order show in Washington DC since 1986???!?
Bernard introduced “Regret” talking about how long it had been and I don’t think he was talking about how long it had been since they played Columbia, MD which to a person from outside the US would never be considered DC even if it is in the same region

The Jesus Lizard show last night…holy fucking shit…26 songs 3 encores, fucking relentless.
and while it was technically "sold out" I'd be curious as to how many tickets ended up not being used (as of yesterday afternoon there were 60 $6 tickets alone on stubhub in addition to all of the ones selling for more and the Facebook event page had plenty of ticket sale posts) as it was full but not nuts to butts uncomfortably full like most sold out Black Cat shows are, made for a far more enjoyable viewing experience.
