Wish a bigger crowd had showed up for Protomartyr.  Not sure the openers helped.

Anyways, they were really good.  Will see them again.

Gold Bar is kinda like DC9 without the bouncy floor.
what time did Protomartyr hit the stage?
I completely forgot about that show. Spray Paint are great as well.

If you are going to loop, you really want to get there early for Jowe Head and the Fleeting Glimpses. Much, much better than last year and I loved last year.

Not sure but it was pretty damn late. Just before midnight?

Anywhere other than Joe's to eat around Metro Gallery?
Yes.  Chesapeake.  The Crown.  Korean places. Salvadorian place.

Best place to eat is accross the street Tapas Teatro.
Thanks - will check all of those out.
Loop's set was a bit short, it seemed.  Not horrifically short, especially for $17.  But it seemed some stuff was left out.  Robert also seemed super annoyed at his bassist.  Drummer had asked him to turn around at one point but that only lasted ~2 songs.

Good show.
I think the Metro Gallery was the wrong venue for Loop….would have been better at the Ottobar.
What was wrong with metro gallery?
sight lines blow at metro for crowded shows
sound is also inferior to ottobar
I went to see Queens of the Stone Age w/ Warpaint on Thursday in San Francisco. All I can say is that I hope they finally announce something close enough in the area because I think a lot of you would really enjoy it. It was easily one of their best performances, and I've seen them a lot. "…Like Clockwork" just gets better and better. For as much as I enjoy their earlier work, the best songs of the night were things like "I Appear Missing" and "Kalopsia". And "I Wanna Make It Wit Chu".
^ did you like Bill Graham Civic?  ;D
I preferred Jowe Head/Fleeting Glimpses "Vertical Slum>Full Moon in my Pocket>Mother Sky" to Loop's "Mother Sky." Solid Loop set but yeah they definitely cut a song or two from the usual setlist.

Agreed.  Stage is way too low and those pillars make things tight.
I have often wondered why they don't raise the stage a foot or two.  They definitely have the ceiling space…

As a venue of that size, I didn't mind it at all. My only gripes: sound was just OK. I've been spoiled lately I guess. And the merch line was kind of ridiculous. But I would definitely see another show there. I don't think the QOTSA show was even sold out though. Which makes me think maybe a venue like Merriweather or even Patriot Center would be too big for them to headline.
