Post Show Banter >>>>

Its nice to hear Trail of Dead are good live now. I saw them several years ago at Black Cat with Witchcraft and they were mediocre to awful. They had too many people in the band. The sound was a big blob. Crowd didn't seem into it either. I do enjoy the "Source Tags and Codes" era a lot.

I saw them in 2000-2006 and then this week. I don't think it was a very good show. It was better because they crowd was into it, and they played "Source Tags and Codes" (which is the only reason I went), but otherwise, they had the same musical flaws as the last few shows.
Downtown Boys have gotten even better. Goddam.

Go see them if you can stomach being in the Blowtel. Opening for EMA who was also great at UHall a while ago.

saw future islands last night at the crocodile in seattle. not only were they excellent (the live version of tin man was unreal), the venue was a perfect fit, the merch table repped some DMV gems (peals LP, for instance), and i wore my 930 t-shirt and never have received so many handshakes and fist-bumps in my life.

i'm not sure the point of posting that.

but most people i talked to drooled over the club.  thought it was cool… after i told him it was my first show at the venue, one of the croc workers talked up how great of a club 930 is and they hoped i had a similar experience.  i know it's total SOP on this site to bash DC venues, but most seattle venues pan pretty hard in comparison.
way to rep DC and 9:30! are you visiting or living in seattle?

i certainly feel that way.  i miss living in a slightly more urban setting, but it's a fine trade-off for everything else the PNW offers.
If you wanted urban, you should have moved to the neighborhood the Croc is in instead of the neighborhood the Tractor is in. Amirite?

you'll never meet anyone from seattle who doesn't spend 24/7 talking about how great seattle is…

My brother hates it there and thinks a move back to upstate New York will cure his ills.

But he's an odd fellow.

I love Seattle but I'd take Portland over Seattle based on it being smaller.

you're right, but probably won't be moving down next to the crocodile anytime soon. doesn't have much of a neighborhood feel, it's surrounded by a lot of hotels, and pricey.

I'm extra aware of this Seattle bias given my partner is from Seattle…. its all I hear from her and her folks…

I must admit I did like Seattle … just never known a place people are so proud to be from…

You aren't married?  Are you a chick?  I can't believe a chick has such awful taste in music.
i can see where you could draw that conclusion from that post atomic, but no, hutch is not a lesbian.

at least i don't think he is.

i don't hear that from people very often, but rarely do i hear people complaining about the area. but locals do this post-pretentious thing on sunny days where they tell u it's always raining here.
Kraftwerk was really cool.

But my god, was that crowded. Way too crowded. I mean, I know it was sold out and all, but I don't think I've ever seen it that filled.

(in reference to the 10pm gig, although I imagine the 6pm show wasn't much different).
