Post Show Banter >>>>

where there any surprise acts with respect to what was announced at the beginning?

I don't think so.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first MLB game.  I am planning to go to a few more Orioles games over the next few months.  I think May 27 will be my next one.
Glad the dead jerry show was fun! I was at clydes in the afternoon studying for a certification exam (and passed!) they had a cheap bar set up outside and a GD tribute band. Perfect study atmosphere! Was sad I didn't go to the show after such a lovely afternoon.
We took our daughter to her first Robbie Fulks show Friday night (at Jammin Java). He normally plays for two hours, but cut the show short because there was a late show (BOO!). 75 minutes probably ended up being a good length show for a seven year old to take in.

Robbie didn't heed the repeated requests for "Fuck this Town" that she shouted (kids can be so embarrassing!), but he did play her request for "Cigarette State" as his encore song. So it ended well.

The next morning, she commented that "Other than My Little Pony, Robbie Fulks and Dr. Dog are my favorite bands, but I like Dr. Dog a little bit more."
I'm not a sound snob, but thought it was pretty bad last night at echostage for tv on the radio.

Was it sold out? How crowded did it seem?
Kinda hoping that Space is going to give us critique of the My Little Pony cannon and it's influence on The Youth of Today

2/3 full, if that. I was center, about 30 feet in front of the soundboard where you'd think the sound would be best. The beer selection couldn't have been much worse as well.
With my last post in this thread I realized I've turned into my grandfather. Every single time I would go out and come back home, he'd wring his hands and ask me (very gravely) "were there a lot of people there?". I used to find it so odd. Now that I'm getting older (and more aware of my personal space), I realize I'm JUST like him. Then there's our borderline pathological need/love of pasta. Odd.

You forgot to logout of your Julian account.

Are you referring to its alleged overriding (pun intended) libertarian tendencies? My daughter's mother does not disapprove.

Absurd. I would cite early Seven Seconds as an influence on Youth of Today, not MLP.

Also, if you're going to steal my shtick, word it correctly, bro.

I would say Minor Threat were a bigger influence…but those darn ponies they know how to time travel
What about the circle jerks?  I do that dressed as my little ponies.  Oops, did I say that, out loud.
Anyone else go to Death and Obnox? Obnox destroyed. They got an hour set which was a very generous set time for an opener but for a change, I didn't mind! "Less is more" has a few exceptions and Obnox is one! Death played all of their first album  interspersed with some new stuff. They were tight and it was cool to hear the old stuff live. Room was not full but they drew a respectable crowd.
Really REALLY enjoyed the Pixies show. Were a few new tunes lackluster? Sure. Was it their best show? No. BUT this was the Pixies at the 9:30. It sounded great, the performance was solid, and Paz did a great job. Is it just me or is David Lovering's drumming better than it has ever been? I thought he was terrific tonight. You can't replace Kim Deal (except with maybe Kim Gordon)…but Paz held her own, and even her vocals were good. The show was paced really well. There were only 1 or 2 moments that I think it could have used a boost. To be honest, I wish they had played more stuff from Trompe le Monde…I loved hearing "The Sad Punk", and "Ana" was such a great surprise too. So much good stuff from the 3rd and 4th LPs. But it was an incredibly fun evening. Thank you Seth!!

I thought this was a great, fun, show too. Crowd was a little "hot, Sunday, tired" to begin the evening, but got more into it as it went on.

Saw the Decemberists last night.  They put on a great show and nice to see they change up setlist night to night.
