folks, don't bother answering.  vas' mind is clearly already made up.
Titus Andronicus was great at the BlackCat last night. My first Blackcat show since Destroyer on 3/9/2020.
They opened The Boys are Back in Town, played a few songs from other records, and then got The Monitor underway.
They played that in its entirety, including a fun interlude with Patrick and a crew member performing as if Patrick was a patron at a bar, singing along to piano accompaniment.
Chris Wilson is probably my favorite drummer.
Some moshery happened through the faster songs, but I stood a few feet away from it and caught no elbows.
It was sold out, but not crazy crowded.
Saw most of Bad Moves working and/or in attendance. Alec MacKaye as well.
The sound was good.
The opener had to bail due to a postive covid test in their band or crew.
Does anyone here know a guy named Joel who goes to a lot of DC shows? Is he on here?

I don't
Tall guy long black hair?
You should probably take the last part of your post to the Joel thread.

Beard, sorta long hair, usually has 2 or 3 women with him at shows?

does not match the description of anyone on this board :)
New Pornos - Mass Romantic show 12/1/2021

Really fun show.
Mass Romantic played through was alright, but I definitely am more of a Twin Cinema or Challengers or Together fan. There are standout tracks on MR, but also some more difficult ones, that don't quite do it for me.
The non MR tracks were great. Loved the Dan songs particularly. Sorry Space. Testament and Myriad Harbour do it for me.
Carl's niece Kathryn is not on this tour, and neither are Blaine Thurier, or Simi Stone. So far at least, no Kathryn means no "Adventures in Solitude." Instead of Blaine and Kathryn, a woman named Katie played Keyboards/synths, and either Carl or Neko remarked that she made their song much more "New Wave."  Cannot remember the name of the other singer onstage next to Neko.
Club was not overly packed. Had plenty of room down in front by stage right.
Masks are now optional. Kept mine on 95%. I just think I look way better in it.
Donated 6 cans of Spaghetti-Os to enter the raffle.
Bought a poster at Merch.
Unpopular opinion… I thought the show was just ok.

It reminded me of why I never got into them more than just a casual listener and I admittedly don't know any of their material post twin cinema. They reminded me of a School of Rock kids' camp ensemble with a bunch of aging parents still trying to be cool (not that that's a bad thing).

Just ok, or maybe slightly better, might describe the show for me as well.

I've been to a string of stellar shows the past three months and this was the least stellar. Not that it wasn't enjoyable, it was, well, just ok whereas the other half dozen shows were all stellar.

My NP experience has been different. I'm actually more a fan of their more recent albums, and Mass Romantic might be my least favorite album of theirs. The Twin Cinema show probably would have been better for me, but last night's show didn't really inspire me to want to go again tonight.

The other singer was Nora O'Connor, who is a solo artist on Bloodshot who has also played and toured with Iron and Wine and Andrew Bird.
Going tonight. Interestingly enough I think their last show at 9:30 in '19 was the last show I saw there before COVID hit (and it wasn't a good show IMHO). Twin Cinema is my favorite NP album and Dan will be there so this piqued my interest.
@hutch

Let's hear the oral history of Bob last night!
Oh gosh I am a little sluggish right now… maybe later!

Listening to Blonde on Blonde right now basking in the post show afterglow
was the mosh pit a little too much for you?
I hope you enjoyed it - and hope it was a break from constantly thinking about vaccines and politics!
Had a fantastic time last night at NP.  First in person show for us since March of 20 so my measure of quality may be skewed but I thought the show was excellent.  Band sounded great, the second set was fantastic, the band and crowed banter was fun.  Overall a great night!

Felt the same. This was MUCH better than their last show in '19. Band sounded great and the encore was a pure delight.

I believe they also played Sweet Talk, Sweet Talk?

I believe you are correct, oh wise one!

CAN CONFIRM

highlight for me was a soaring The Bleeding Heart Show…and I don't mind missing the Dylan show…. still buzzing from the epic UMBC show in 2019
