Space will find a rationalization on why his decision to see the jaycocks was better than Byrne… just let it go.

I went to the Jayhawks. First set was ok, second set was very good.

Sounds like I missed out  on David Byrne. At least I was at the smaller venue, and  got a spot on the upper rail where i wanted to be. And I've seen Byrne before.

It’s okay, Space. You should really watch (as I have) some of the YouTube videos of the show. I’ve told some people it may be the best concert I’ve ever seen - out of ~500 shows…

Were the Talking Heads among those 500?

Wondering how last night's show compared to prime Talking Heads years.

And yes, plan to seek out Youtube highlights.

I had never seen the Talking Heads or David Byrne. Definitely a bucket list performance for me. 22 songs including 12 TH hits.

I never said that. We can all be happy.

Yes agree….sigh..
A friend of mine at the show said it was his very favorite David Byrne show, including the times he saw Talking Heads. He said that this tour is a culmination of everything…that all roads led to this. And my friend has pretty flawless taste, so I trust his judgment. For whatever that is worth.

For anyone who hasn't seen AIR's current Moon Safari tour yet, if you enjoyed David Byrne, I highly recommend that. It's more of a lunar art installation light/movie life-size diorama set to euphoric cosmic jazz, but to me it creates the same sense of wonderment, joy, and humanity. That's coming up next Tuesday at MGM.
I've never seen the TH, but have been lucky to see DB in the 90's, 00's, and now last night. Last night was undoubtedly the best and most likely cracks my top 10 if not top five shows ever.
I saw two David Byrne shows with the American Utopia band, one at MPP and the other on Broadway. I thought those were incredible shows.
Last night was even better. The new band seems to have a bit more dynamic "snap, crackle and pop," as it were.

Also helps that it was one of the best sound mixes I have heard at Anthem (with the exception of King Crimson).
That was amaze balls. Managed to grab a set list. And no didn’t use anything other than begging…I am a good beggar

That band and horn section behind Iggy was tight, the horns adding lots of punch

So far I got in the band

Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Joan The Police Man
Urian Hackney on drums son of bass player in Death and member of Rough Francis and currently The Armed
Brad Truax bass and touring member of Interpol.

Pretty sure on keyboards it was Ale Campos

Think the horns were Leron Thomas on Trumpet who worked with Iggy on his Free album.  On trombone it was likely Corey King.  Those were the ones on the European dates
Awesome and thank you. Had no idea who was up there

Horns were a nice touch
Correction Joan the Police Man was on keyboards

Ale Campos was on guitar she also is a part of Las Nubes
Goddamn, what a show.  78 years old, man…he sat maybe three times and i don't even think for a full song.  Not even a real break for an encore.
Agreed.  I said to my friend that I hope when I am 78 I have half the energy this man has

What is the opposite of dialing it in?

Did Joan Wasser transition? The last I knew she was a Police Woman.
The Iggy show was pretty much what I had hoped it would be, but was afraid it wouldn't. Last show of the year for the band, and boy were we lucky to get it. It was a who's who of the DC music community too…3/4 of Fugazi, Mary Timony, Mark Cisneros, and even Henry Rollins showed up. It was a magnificent night, so much fun. Got to meet most of the band, all of them were so nice. Henry, Iggy's manager, is still with him which amazes me. An absolute blast.
Fantastic show, garbage sound mostly but that’s been my experience at Anthem for rock shows. Wish we got the full Nightclubbing song instead of a snippet.
memory is a bit fuzzy but the couple times I saw Iggy in the 87 and 88 and then 96 it seems like his bands weren't that great and quite frankly I remember more about how great Jane's Addiction were when they warmed up for him in 1988.  Will never forget them bringing out a plastic ice cooler putting a microphone under it and the whole band wailing away on it.

with that said outside of  the reunited Stooges and the band he had with him on the Post Pop Depression tour (sadly no DC show) that was likely one of his best backing bands.  The drummer was a joy to watch and I need to check out that new The Armed album people are talking about.  It seemed like they were on verge of getting a little funky at times which would have been a fun take on some of that 70s stuff. Just solid support all the way around

dialing it in: making small changes to improve precision, making incremental enhancements, etc.
possible antonyms: guesstimating, approximating, painting with a wide brush

PHONING it in: doing the bare minimum, being physically present but little more, putting no effort in, etc.
possible antonyms: going all out, giving it your all, putting your heart & soul into it
