Yeah, I had a good time. I've never had the chance to see him solo (last show/only? show here was like a decade ago, I think?) so that was a nice treat. I've kind of dismissed Wilco as I've gotten older and their albums have gotten more boring, but hearing stripped down versions of even newer songs always make me appreciate his songwriting all over again.
Post Show Banter >>>>
Tweedy…
I thought it was great and props to dyecraig for the hook up
As always, his banter had the crowd in stitches
I liked this bit:
JT-hey everyone, how are you doing?
Person in crowd-How are you doing?
JT-People always ask me that. I'm kinda like the Anti-David Lee Roth. people are asking because they are like 'is he OK?'
He also wished Bob Boilen a happy birthday and dedicated 'im the man who loves you' to him
quite a career spanning set
I was particularly excited about the Anodyne tracks New Madrid (he actually started forgetting the lyrics durring the chorus and the crowd jumped in and helped him with 'Caroms over the landfill' one of my favorite Tweedy lines!.) and closing with Acuff Rose was a big treat for me. Really one of his best IMO
Some of the new songs were really good…Some Birds was a stand out to me
we got a lot of the standards: via Chicago, misunderstood, jeasus etc, trying to break, Heavy metal and Passenger Side
but they all were very stripped down and bare (because it was just him and acoustic guitar)
this way 100 times better on his last appearance with 'Tweedy' at the Lincoln he did a few years ago
not quite as good as the time I caught him at the lounge Ax testing out a bunch of the yet to be released Summerteeth
also not having the 20 minute fuzz jams by N Cline was welcomed by me…at least last night
oh pro-tip….go for the balcony area close to the stage on the top and the bottom (slightly raised area against the wall, by the stage)
many seats were still open after the headliner, but people just didn't want to give up their seat to check

Banter highlight for me:
"If we made a pie chart of everyone that has ever existed, around 30% would be dead, and the other 70% would be jealous of that 30%." :D

I noticed that as well. Got there an hour before doors and settled on Row D right side. My buddy wanted to go up but I was happy where we were. Last time we neglected to notice it was seated G/A and ended up at the back of the upper balcony.
I liked Elkington's line about having to be there early because it was 'first come first served.'
Did anyone buy a shirt or poster? If so post pics please

Oooooh…nice
I wish I could have been there….

Durand Jones & The Indications put on one hell of a show. Challenged could not have been more correct about the drummer. Unreal voice.
Nick Mason was so fun! I loved everything about it
I was by soundboard and the sound was killer

Went and saw them again at Ottobar last night; what a fun show.

Really is. Can't wait for them to come around again.
Kirin J. Callinan at DC9 last night….WOW, what a great entertainer…..did anyone else make it?
Not sure how many SNL fans are here, but I would highly recommend entering the lottery in August to see if you can score tickets. I went to the dress rehearsal this weekend for the Adam Sandler/Shawn Mendes show and it was the chance of a lifetime!!! Maybe it's because his cast was when I was in middle school, and really getting into the show, but it was just amazing. We saw 3 sketches that didn't make the live show and a news skit that didn't make it. It was awesome seeing how everything is put together, and to see Lorne walking around making sure it was set. Added bonus seeing Chris Rock and Kristen Wiig!!!!
I do believe you can try your luck for standby tickets, but that seems to require spending the night for tickets you may or may not get.
I would recommend going to the dress over the live show. It's the same, and it's longer, and it seems more laid back.
So glad I finally got to go see it. I've been trying to get tickets since you had to send in postcards :)

How was Eleanor Sunday night?

she looked smoking as she came up to the merch table, but we missed her set :(
it was just too nice out to go into a dark dank club Sunday night that early
I try every year, and get shut out every year.

Saw Idles and Fontaines DC show at Metro Gallery in Baltimore. Idles show was high energy on stage and in the audience…a lot of fun. The 2 guitarists like to go out into the crowd multiple times during the show. Looking forward to seeing them again at the Club later in the year. Fontaines DC were also enjoyable but brief. More low key than Idles, but still good. Will probably see their headlining show at U Street later in the year.
Pedro the Lion and John Vanderslice last night was special. Had never seen PTL before, had only seen Bazan solo. New record is great, band tight, visuals on point.
Vanderslice was so much fun, great songs, tremendously funny banter.

Ex Hex is an almost perfect band (they added a white cis man as a touring bassist which smacks of heteronormative patriarchy so they lose a few points)
