haven't listened to the new album, but oh boy, they are a little too middle-of-the-road for me now.

John Grant was awesome, though

I tried to tell you this roughly five years ago.

did you hear john grant @ u st. last summer w/full band?
that was awesome

elbow can lean a bit MOR at times, but sometimes I feel like a glass of wine instead of an i.p.a.
^ nope, was overseas June of last year  :'(

would have been nice to hear his more electronic songs
Morcheeba was great tonight even without their DJ, who couldn't get his visa stamped in order to enter the country.  In the words of the guitarist "He's just a DJ who likes to smoke dope and break the law".  Haven't seen Morcheeba in awhile, but Skye is in great voice and always impressed with guitar players skills.

Have to say that if I were an warm act, I much rather being playing on a bill at the Lincoln than the club.  Something about those seats that keeps the chatter down from the audience during warm act sets, where as a the club the chatter would have been more obvious.  Was impressed with Conner Youngblood's set, even if it was a little rough around the edges.
First Swans show last night.  Didn't know any of the material they played but the 2 hours flew right by.

I guess my earplugs earned their keep last night - ears are barely ringing.
I am a huge swans fan and even I couldn't recognize some of the songs.  I think I only knew 3. I've only listened to the new album twice though.

i was joking beforehand that they were going to play all their 30 minute long songs…didn't expect them to really do that
they did 2 new ones not on the new album   :o

probably the best sounding Swans show at the Black Cat (out of the 3)
Despite the volume and earplugs the sound was amazingly clear.
was there a setlist on stage with the name of the new songs?
Seems right.

Six songs, 126 minutes.

Top that, jambands.

I read a tweet yesterday calling them a "spooky jamband" which is not that far from the truth. :)
Drone Jam.

I loved the set.  I noticed the air was on (maybe not the whole time, but I noticed it near the merch table and by the bathrooms at different points in the night).  Music was loud and clear.

Gira seemed like a nice guy.  He was signing stuff after the show and I was able to snag a poster and an autograph.

Plus I got to hang with showlist, which is always cool!

did you get the showlist doormat?
Doormat?  You mean the bottle opener?  I got that a long time ago.

I pre-ordered the cd/dvd from 'young god' and it arrived pre-signed, a nice surprise
Yeah he seems pretty personable. Another friend got a copy of his novel signed.

Came on around the 3rd song.  I was, mercifully, right under a vent so the remainder of the set was pretty comfortable.  Was getting pretty unbearable up until then.
It went on less than 1 second after I told Joe it was hot as shit. Doubt my comment had anything to do with it but the timing was pretty funny.
Modest Mouse was really good last night. Least sloppy I've ever seen them and a nice mix of songs from all the LPs.
