Anyone else catch the Big Star tribute show last week? Upon reflection, that was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I can't stop thinking about it. What made it so special? I felt like every musician on that stage bared their soul at some point through singing, guitar solos, etc. It's the kind of music that transcends time and takes you someplace else. It was a religious experience…the kind of show that stays with you for a while and makes you look differently at life. Plus, I've never seen Mike Mills look so happy on a stage. I'm not sure they'll be doing more of them (Mike says not for a while), but if any more shows happen, I'm getting on a plane to see them.

I saw a Big Star tribute at the clarb a few years back.  It was pretty cool to see Mitch Easter performing…. Was he there this time?
First Ween show for me.  Got a spot near the soundboard next to a taper dude in the overpacked venue.
The people around me couldn't have been nicer.

I gotta say I liked the softer numbers the best, especailly the bluesy/jazzy keyboard driven song earlyish in the show.  My Own Bare Hands is a great one.  Though many of the metal-like songs were a little much for me.  Honestly, some of the performance felt like the byproduct of a Spinal Tap/ Tenacious D union.

hahah… That was always my ONE gripe with Ween (well, maybe more than one)… but I can't stand The D and there is the occasional similarity. As I said, in my recap in the Ween thread, def. not my ideal set and I prefer your songs vs. the metal as well. I don't mind a couple, but when a set is primarily the metal tunes, it drops in preference.

We def dont need to hear Vallejo next year.

Please tell me it was a slash top hat, an Argentinian futbol jersey,  pleated white pants, and high tops.

welp it wasn't the trifecta, that we only get every other blue moon
so train wreck or no train wreck?

Did anyone spot walky's biceps?

fun show…was not off the rails, but there were a few flubs
Guitar sounded great.  Vocals were a little off at times
I enjoyed the 2019 show way more.
He did play my two favorite covers: speed of the sound of loneliness and outdoor type

During his acoustic set, I didn't recognize any of the songs…just checked setlist, and obviously neither did others

Was looking forward to JH being on the stage and she only joined for 3 songs and barely sung, so that was a little underwhelming

no walky sighting by me
but in the ween vs Lemonheads decision clearly gives the W to ween, not even a question
Having not seen modest mouse since 2005, I wasn't sure what to expect but I can confirm I'll never see them again.

I think Issac Brock is still a giant tool and kind of back on the crazy train… I thought there was potential for an Evan Dando train wreck,  but he kept it on the tracks.

Lonesome Crowded West is a perfect album and in general it was a good show… encore was great too.

Show was super loud, I snagged a poster.

The end.
Evan Dando was not a train wreck…

Juliana Hatfield though… I hope she is ok.

obviously.
Was never any doubt that would be the case…

Lemonheads or really Evan with whoever are not a blow you away type of band….

I agree with your thoughts on MM except I will show up in three years for the Moon and Antarctica tour. Great night. Had a bit too much vodka.
