Bump. Might just fuck off and show up to this nightmare after pregaming at 3rd hill.

Ok here.

and???

they were here a while back and i didn't make it.
Yeah it was good. The crowd seemed really into it. I realized towards the beginning that it's really not my thing tho. Which is weird.  I really *thought* I would like it.
Sturgill played for 3 hours 12 minutes straight! That’s the longest I have seen any act play continuously in my life.

The over use of exclamation points on declarative statements no one is excited about is a real blight on our society.
It was exciting for me!!!!!!
The English Beat starring Dave Wakeling put on a stellar show, even if somehow my almost 60yr old friend got thrown out for arguing with a bouncer

Oh wow I had no idea that was the issue

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Capitol One Music Hall, 12/9

Two sets with an intermission so old people could pee and buy $16 spicy margaritas.
Venue was hot as fuck. What are they thinking.
Hall was nice, if a bit sterile, and I'll say it again, hot as fuck. Reminded me of the Kennedy Center on the inside, if the Kennedy Center was run by a bank.
Yes, you could park at Wegmans, at a separate parking garage. 3-4 hours was $8. Cheaper than the $15 venue parking, which was a half block closer.
No, I didn't try to trade in for a $0 ticket. Ironically, my wife was mentioning housewives who do this…buy a coat for their kid, see it go on sale, and then try to exchange for the sales price.
What's with men my age wearing earrings. Silly. What are they thinking.
David is a master guitarist but his singing sucks when he sings lead.
Gillian is a decent banjoist and her voice was in fine form.
Unless they do one of those playing her debut album in full with a full band shows, I don't think I need to see them again.
They probably had trouble adjusting to the unseasonably warm day yesterday.

At least they got their coats a few bucks cheaper.
Quite simply the greatest band that ever lived!
The Clash?

The band playing in the Cantina when Han shot first.
I've had too little sleep the past two nights, and quite frankly, I am way too old to act the way I did at both shows, but what can you do when your favorite live band are playing (the last?) two nights in a row?

So let's get the obvious out of the way first:

Seems impossible that after all of these years, but I don't think they've lost a single step, and they're OLD.  Just as crushing as they ever were, and man, hearing the new songs back-to-back with the hits just proved how incredible it is that, after 26 years, they just effortlessly dropped another album like no time passed.

They were on fire, especially night two.  I feel like Yow spent more time in the crowd now, at 64, then he did the last few reunion shows.  Definitely seemed like he was feeling it here and there…he stopped a few seconds each night to nurse his knee a bit, it seemed, and took a rough spill onto the monitors late in the show night, so much so that he checked behind his ear a few times as if he was checking for blood.  But they were absolutely ferocious…just destroying the place.

They seemed in great spirits too…whether that was just happy to be back at it or a truly being awed at the response to the crowd, they were smiling, interacting mid-song, seemingly flattered by the applause, etc.  I do think Sunday was a rowdier crowd, and the band seemed to acknowledge it.  But even Yow broke character a bit here and there, including dedicating Mouth Breater to Steve Albini.

Will I ever get to see them again?  Seems unlikely…but I've also thought that after both previous reunions, and now they're putting out new music.
