Hutch.  There ain't no stinking Hutch on this board.

Hope Mrs. Challenged is doing well.

Thanks. So far, so good. Anyone have a cardiologist recommend in Baltimore area?

One of my best friends is a great one at Hopkins. Erin Michos.

Thank you all that have provided referrals offline and here!!!.

She has made an appointment with a Towson Cardiologist, if she needs a 2nd opinion it looks like K8's friend would be a great option.

We went up to Hershey/Hummelstown, PA and saw Durand Jones and the Indications at The Englewood, which is a really clean an fancy new venue around 1hr 20mins from home in Towson. There is a restaurant and brewpub onsite. We ate in town though because reservations for dinner at the venue were booked up, and then wandered the streets and had a beer at a brewpub/restaurant (Rubber Soul Brewing) in Hummelstown.

We didn't know that there would be an opener, but there was, and she was fantastic: Danielle Ponder. An amazing voice and great charisma, really got the crowd into it, when they had seemed very reserved and almost uncomfortable at the start. Sparkly venue, first show back for many, etc. She really brought chills with that voice, and I looked her up and she is/was a practicing attorney - public defender who is now living her dream of performing.

Durand Jones and the Indications were great. There is a basically a trading of songs between Durand and Aaron, and Aaron's voice still is mystifying. I was next to Danielle and her drummer for the first Aaron song, and the drummer said to Danielle something like: "I just didn't expect that sound to come out of him…"

Anyway, goodtimes, and I hope you all enjoy if you are seeing at 930 on 9/11 (Saturday). Different opener that night though.

Yes. She specializes in women's cardiovascular health.
Mdou Moctar was mesmerizing. So glad I went.
Very short set; maybe 50 mins?
Also, protip - the new butchery accross the street from the Ottobar in the old Parts and Labor space, serves a really delicious Pizza. Definitely a Top 10 pizza in Baltimore.
50 minutes but the set times you posted say 90? def. get a refund!  ::)

is there a white guy playing as part of their touring band?

40% music/60% pizza

Does he wail like a long suffering Berber?
Bros, weed, fist pumps. Not necessarily in that order.

MMJ was stellar. Are there better shows that are on the rock side of rock? I doubt it. Brittany is just not for me. Got to hang out with Vas Deferens. Love his easy going demeanor and encyclopedic knowledge of shows and music. Met up with an old friend I haven't seen in a few years other than on Facebook, and that was cool. Tried to ping Yada, but after my first message and his reply, his Inbox was full. Traffic was terrible getting there, no surprise. Got some Indian takeout and brought it to Black Flag (Sapwood and Manor Hill were closed). My first time there, beer was pretty decent, crowd seemed to be other concert goers based on their apparel. So glad I had a mask on to drown out some of the weed smell (at the show, not the brewery.)

The end. Not necessarily in that order.
Yes yes all very nice but at what time did MMJ go on?!?

Apparantly, the Bass Player is from Rockville, and is named Mikey Coltun, and is also in Les Rhinoceros. Was happy with the short set, due to my oldness. Also, have to save my strength for the Thursday night Radiohead show.
What idiot said the perfect show length was 40 minutes?

Az seemed to think that 45 mins was too long for a band to play
Ah yes….of course

Vas could probably give a more exact answer, but I seem to recall it was Brittany from 7:30-8:30. Then the lights went down at 8:55, MMJ came on a couple minutes later, and played until 11.

So you were correct with your MMJ start time estimate, and Merriweather was incorrect when they said show time was 7.
I'd also like to know the day of the week for consistency purposes.

930
After being burnt to a crisp on MMJ from 2003 to 2010 a good decade break of seeing them was just what the doctor ordered and I'll most likely take another decade break. As Space said, a good rock show but I just don't like enough of their output of the last ten years… and as much as you all like to rip on Phish, they do and continue to put on the best rock show of the past many years. Did your wife and you stand up during the show Space? At least people did somewhat move and rock out at the show last night.

I like a few of Brittany Howard's "hits" but the portion of the set I saw of hers was annoying at best.

Still can't beat a gorgeous night at MPP though.

Onward!
Oh I assumed the wife didn’t go…

I think they're a package deal…
Oh….I didn’t realize

My bad

If it was you, would you let her out of your sight?
