Post Show Banter >>>>

mentioned previously that I noticed Sean Eden wearing a 930 Club shirt earlier in the day when Luna was in Seattle last month, now there's video of the band's KEXP performance later that day with him still wearing it…..

Anyone else go to Clutch Sunday night? It was a fun show but Clutch only played 70 minutes. I know they want to let people get to the metro in time but damn.

the 2004 9:30 show where The Bakerton Group (Clutch instrumental) opened and then the band did two full sets and a three song encore comes to mind. Clutch played like 30 songs that night! By-gone Clutch era now I guess.

I attended; really enjoyed it; 70 minutes was perfect, for I am old and tired, and had to work in the morning.

the ASC show last night.

so what was the HUGE surprise!
Glen Hansard, Kishi Bashi, Laura Gibson, and The Sufferers were the surprise guests. It was kind of fun not knowing who would come on stage.

Sharon Van Etten was great.

I think I'm too sober/old for Dan Deacon.

dang…love the Sufferers and will be missing there opening slot in a few months

your Dan Deacon line is classic!~
i still love dan deacon.  they said get there early for a big surprise, no surprise early though. i knew all of the performers before i got there (inside info yo)

highlight of the night, bob playing the arp odyssey w/ dan deacon on feel the lightning..he was also belting out the lyrics, which was cool

Bob Boilen ain't too old for DD!!!!
I have seen Dan Deacon enough in my life, I think.   ;D  (I am sure I will see him several more times)

The best shows of his that I attended were NOT the dance off ones (though the dance off in the dark of the campgrounds of Fields Fest was cool) but ones like his Pardalince Bird sound experiments or when I saw him at the Crown testing new songs out live…  or the one time i saw the Dan Deacon Ensemble…

The dance off is old.  Corny.  Played out.  Sure it can be fun, but he really needs to get a new gimmick/shtick.
i'm not too into the dance off section, but i love the interpretive dance portion. it is simply fantastic
You should do some interpretive dancing this weekend at the Ottobar.
EpiQ trip to the Riviera Maya brahz.

don't have one negative thing to say about the entire experience… literally nothing. Amazing food, weather, drinks, other things… I've always loved that part of the country and with music at night, it couldn't be beat. The BPM festival going on at the same exact time lively upped the area as well throughout the week.  The sets weren't the best ever, but good enough. I think some folks had some minor complaints that stayed at the lower end resorts.

Regarding your second question, that's about accurate.

nice!

a friend of mine helped put together/organize one of those a couple of years back.. I was amazed at how much the suites went for…

its an interesting concept for sure…

escort DESTOYED at the BC last night.  i'm not saying it's automatically the best night of dancing DC will see this year, however you're going to have to bring a really strong case to make me believe otherwise.  what a fun, fun show.  can't wait to catch them again.
Awesome. Love, them.

Will keep an eye out for them. Nothing has really beat that Rapture show over a decade ago for me (besides LCD Soundsystem)
absolutely loved seeing Low at the Creative Alliance in bmore last night.  good mix of stuff and they sounded great.  I learned that they played in the Peabody Library for one of their shows awhile back..would have loved to have seen that.  It was kind of weird being a seated show, but I guess I understand.  I was ok with it.

although the people talking really loud in the back, and then getting into a "loudly talking" match when someone told them to shut the fuck up kind of ruined the mood a bit.
I thought of you (well at least I associate this band with you), while listening to God is an Astronaut and planning a major listening session to hear them in one of the sound labs at my job. It's coming down to either GY!BE which Ive heard sounded amazing, so looking for something different.

GY!BE killed it last night. So perfectly loud and distorted and just mind-blowing. Im not sure if it was as good as seeing them in a church (nothing will beat that experience), but the Fox Theater has never sounded better. And the imagery - and the looping of the film clips - so f'ing impressive. I did hear from the guys that I was with initially (who were closer to the front) that it didnt sound as great up there, but once they moved back towards the projection dude, it was perfect.

Smackie - any interest in Talking Heads on Monday night? Not sure what we're showing it in, but can pass along details (or to Sharon, if its too hard to make it). Looks like the 12th & 13th we're doing something soon. I think that is more than likely Do The Right Thing. I think its what we came up with for the February screening. Talk about Straight Outta Compton - but nominated for an award so ixnayed at our screening room.
