Just Announced Commentary - 2011 Edition

As someone who has followed the board pretty closely over the years, I don't really think any of the more prolific people on the board are one person writing under two unique identities. Atomic is from the Baltimore area and is currently on vacation in Germany. Julian is from the Richmond area. I'm not privy to IP addresses, but no way are they the same person. Nor is anyone Dupek or Brian Wallace either.

And by the way, what happened to Jaguar?

To play devil's advocate, Atomic could be from Australia for all you know. People lie on the internet all the time. No one's ever met Atomic or Brian Wallace, nor seen a photo of them. Even if you have IP capabilities, there are 800 free proxy websites that could make the two account thing a possibility.

I'd put a significant amount of money on Brian Wallace having been another, specific boardie. There is a story there that's bizarre and creepy but I can't put it out there without telling other people's business.

no way that QOTSA are headlining verizon.  *maybe* if grohl is sitting in for the show… otherwise, no way.

They are playing Barclays and that's pretty big.  Their set at Made in America was great.  Nice backdrop too, which they didn't have the times I saw them in Chicago.

right, but DC isn't new york.  i'm willing to bet that they won't sell out barclays.

Many bands that headlined Barclays semi-recently go on to play Merriweather on the same tour. The National and the Postal Service are two recent ones that come to mind.
Totally fine with Queens at Merriweather. They need a stage big enough to fit that giant screen behind their set-up……probably.
Queens are streaming at the iTunes festival right now

Nice! I can finally cross them off my list!

grr f'n Fillmore.  no place to see punk rock.  I caught them at the old 930 club on the "punk in drublic" tour and it was awesome
I thought Fillmore was a cool venue when i went there to see HTDA and DIIV.  Definitely a better spot than the last place NoFX played in this area (Rams Head Live).  True it isnt "punk", but NoFX are a little too big to play Club K or a house show or the Ottobar.

I wish I knew… I tried to get together with her for a beer when i was in her area.  No response on here. or email.  Or Facebook.  Or text… I am a bit worried.  Does anyone know her last name and can message me with it?

how is that Savages show not sold out?
;D
Because they are a not that great buzz band whose buzz has died down?  ;D

(Response is for Joe BTW, and not to specifically diss Savages or their fans, though I dont think they are all that.  I would recommend Pleasure Leftists as a band doing a similar thing, but better.)
i enjoy paying attention to bands that sell out like uncles day at a whore house, the first time they come around, then do not sell out the second time they come around.  i tried to think of a witty comment from an obscure film, to go with the second time around, but i could not.

Wait there are bands out there better than bands that are more popular?  Knock me over with a feather….

Fair enough…had to figure out what NSFW was first…
Can we get rid of this repulsive picture too?

Woo!  :)

They are playing Stage AE in Pittsburgh.  Isn't the 9:30 Club the D.C. area's equivalent?  Or Constitution Hall?

maybe y'all missed the part about MGMT sucking balls these days:
