Just Announced Commentary - 2011 Edition

Oh yeah brother, they are bad.

They definitely aren't Swans or Swervedriver.  It's cool, at least they have some classic albums.
gotta admit i have not heard new album….

did kim deal participate in it?
No, not at all.  Paz from a Perfect Circle plays bass on it.

Does anybody have any info on the Church / Furs show?  It doesn't appear on the FSS or Church sites.

Hey Hutch, have you ever listened to "Teenager of the Year"? It's got a bit of filler on it, but about 90% of it is pretty much perfect in my book. It's a stunning LP and one of the most rewarding things Black Francis/Frank Black ever did. I love the Pixies probably more than anyone but I will still sing the praises of the Man. That LP has held up for 21 years.

How much are tickets? I'm guessing $175.

I bought every Frank Black album for a good while.. I feel like its been going downhill but I have a friend who swears by Frank Black and the Catholics…

I read a book bout the Pixies..an oral history… what I learned was that most of the Pixies songs were written by the first album….I think Frank Black/Black Francis/Charles Sumner/DJ Kooko just ran out of inspiration or something…….

Anyways, the Pixies stuff is more than enough greatness for one lifetime

Yeah looks like the rest of the band is going to be there
pretty big step up from the otto bar
Freeman couldn't even fill the blowtel

I hope it does well, but thankfully won't sell out

$25…was kinda thinking this would be a $15 show

looks like no Guy either….which is probably a good thing
He was good, but IMO he couldn't carry the whole night?
yo la tengo at linc- 9/25

man looks like September is going to be a busy month for this board
surprised they upgraded to the Lincoln
seemed like their star was fading

Is it considered an upgrade to go from the 930 Club to The Lincoln?

I believe both have a stated capacity in the 1200s.

Guy adds no value in my opinion, not a fan of his voice or antics to be honest. But yeah… DWG is either Ween Minus Gene or DWG with Guy. Looking forward to a 75% capacity show!
If I had to pick my personal holy trinity of "acts 930.com seems to thing is awesome but I think are terrible" it would have to be Ween, New Pornos, and Frank Turner.

I agree with 2/3rds of that list…

LOL…there are some bands that I just don't "get". Arcade Fire is in my "I like some of their songs, I've seen them put on an awesome show and I've seen them put on a fairly crummy show…" category and then I realize that I just never have the desire to listen to them and if they went away I wouldn't really care. I feel that way about New Pornos too. But some people love them. I can see why Frank Turner would be grating to some. I've never gotten Ween. I've also never gotten Pavement, TV on the Radio, and Gogol Bordello. I can see why some people don't get Queens of the Stone Age, but that's one band I obsess over.
Courtney Barnett, Diarrhea Planet, and Foo Fighters are my three.
The Smiths/Morrissey
