There are so many ways to take that, but I'm guessing K8's lil' sister has one there too.

Confirm?  With photos?

She has since covered up the stright edge…has both sleeves done…
I'm cool with people who are straight edge.  Very supportive people, albeit a bit judgy but I think that's mostly because at the time we were all teenagers, and were pretty judgmental in general.

I don't care what people do, but the whole concept of "straight edge" is ridiculous. You don't partake in drugs or alcohol, that doesn't make you part of some movement.

you also don't have sex or smoke.  It is fine for 13 year olds.

There are a lot of straight edge dickheads in Richmond, at least around college age. I remember going to house parties and those straight edge cunts riding up on their bikes and throwing bottles through peoples windows because people were in there drinking or smoking. It never made sense to me.

I thought about going straight edge recently…
most straight edge people are punk fucks who demand everybody think and act like them all the time.  only they are right, everybody else is wrong.

they sound like organized religion.
When I was a freshman in college my roommate took me to a kegger and told me to drink beer.  I told him I didn't like the taste.  He brought out a baseball bat and told me to drink beer or he would hit me in the head with it.  I drank and after awhile I liked the taste of beer.  That is the right kind of peer pressure.  These straight edge kids are applying the wrong type of pressure.

They're so non-conforming. You conformist. Doing what you like. Fuck you.
I made my straight edge friends pick up my heroin and cocaine when they had free time.
;D
The straight edge people I knew really supported friends and relatives of mine who were trying to get clean from H and Cocaine.  So, I never really had a problem with them.
I was making a joke but I guess it's not really something to joke about
;D

Love that Lorelei are playing somewhat regularly now. Criminally underrated band more people should see.
I will definitely be at one of the shows.

Not a drop of alcohol in 25+ years but watching drunks can be extremely entertaining.

I don't think we need to worry about it being too hipsterish.

i suspect that few will care, but the bearded dude in the center of the picture in the blue shirt is papa charlie, grandfather of american homebrewing.

I am glad you know that.  I am glad this board isn't all teetotalers.

Postal Service and BS/Yo La Tengo are the "big announcements" that MPP was tweeting about yesterday?

Lolz

u dat jaded?

Postal Service is popular enough to headline MPP? Really? How many top selling albums or singles have they had recently? Or ever had?

I realize the answer to the same question for Belle and Sebastian is 0, but they are sort or revered indie icons. Does Postal Service have the same status?

yes, i would say that the PS have the same revered indie status - certainly on this side of the atlantic.  to date, their shows have been selling out.
I always took the Postal Service to be a novelty project by Ben Gibbard and some other guy nobody has ever heard of.

I'm guessing about 5k tops in ticket sales for those shows. IMP is making some interesting choices in summer bookings.

the pavilion holds 5200, so you're predicting that they won't even sell out the seats.

i'll bet you a beer of your choice that both shows top 8000 tickets.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Give_Up
Give Up is the debut album by electronic pop duo The Postal Service. Released on February 19, 2003, it was the second Sub Pop Records release to receive platinum certification, and was Sub Pop's best selling album since Nirvana's Bleach.[2] The album peaked at #114 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart and has sold 1.07 million copies[3].

yes.
A ten year hiatus after limited touring from a band whose members are still active and still have followings (DNTEL/DCFC) and have sold over a million records, and whose fans probably didnt get a chance to see them live, due to them:
The band toured the U.S. from April to August 2003

which was not many shows for fans to see.

Anyways, MPP seems like the perfect size for the Postal Service.
