that 930 show fucking ruled last year.

His EP kicked ass, his album was underwhelming, but I'll definitely need to catch him. I got his album the day after his show at 930. I was bummed.
Az, you have never seen Alcest?  They were great last go around,  so loud and harsh and beautiful.

Anyone have any on-sale / presale info for this one?

nothing… but i suspect it'll pop up here first.

DFA - album and live performance are night and day.  you'll love it.
That's why I want to see him live, I've seen some performances on Youtube. I need some 10 minute guitar solos in my face.
I assume all the Gary Clark Jr. fans were at the Buddy Guy show…

tell me you're not into this Clark guy just because Rolling Stone has him on every issue and hypes him beyond belief.. they even found a way to include him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show this year….

a guy with one EP and an album?
oh stop.

why?

Buddy Guy is a frickin' legend who played on Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, etc. records…. with Junior Wells.. a guy both Clapton and Vaughan are on record as saying is the greatest guitar player ever.

I bet not one person ravin' about Clark went to the State Theatre show… and it would be different if Guy was over the hill but he's still got the chops!

Pretty sure if Clark could pick between going to see himself play or going to see Buddy Guy, well you know….

but hey I guess Buddy Guy is "old"….
i saw bb king a few years back, and while i appreciated witnessing a legend, it did very little for me.

i suspect buddy guy would do much of the same.

what's different with clark? youth, energy, the excitement, the ascent, etc..

to suggest that we are drooling over this guy because we saw him on the cover of Rolling Stone… c'mon.

Have you seen Gary live?  Last year when he played every festival that was out, I checked him out a couple of times.  I have to say he is a hell of a guitar player.  It doesn't matter if he was on Rolling Stone or whatever, he simply is awesome live.  If you haven't seen him live, then you are missing out.
And then there are those of us who prefer good three minute pop songs to douchebag guitar wankery.

I say that as I hear a White Stripes song on the radio.

Lol, who the fuck reads Rolling Stone anymore?

You know, at some point, a lot of people only had one EP and one album to go on.

Also, wasn't Limp Bizkit included in a RNR hall of fame performance at some point? Or was that fine because they had like 4 albums?

Stupid, stupid arguement.

So, if I like good old fashioned blues rock it can only be Muddy Waters or BB King? Get off your high horse. I said I didn't really like the dudes album, but his live performances look great.

Rolling Stone said this guy is awesome so he must fucking suck.
I've always though of Hutch as the kind of guy who would be a huge Rolling Stone devotee'. You cna totally see it in his music taste. Like the kid of guy who would every every copy from the last 30 years taking up space in his kid's closet. Next to the fake leather Members Only jacket.

if you're into blues guitar and you're going to see Gary Clark but didnt go see maybe the greatest of all time- and he's still playing great (unlike say BB who is a pale shadow)- well.. yeah there is something wrong with that…sorry.

and I'm not saying Gary Clark sucks but its funny how every wannabe hipster on this board is cooing about him when we just had Buddy Guy play this week and, yeah, you didn't go..

and I am saying that i don't like the rolling stone hard sell….every fuckin issue has something about him in it…come on! he's the only fucking blues guitarist in the world???..its not just that either.. they even got him as a guest with the rolling stones.. you know joining the likes of taylor swift and kate perry… for the young uns….

I find Gary Clark Jr's music incredibly boring.  I am not fond of Buddy Guy either.
