Rumors of two nights of Phish at MPP - 7/13-14

Announced.

07/13 ? Columbia, MD @ Merriweather Post Pavilion
07/14 ? Columbia, MD @ Merriweather Post Pavilion

a saturday and a sunday… clearing out the parking lot on saturday night is going to be a pain in the ass.  i wonder how many of those phisheads show up expecting to camp overnight.

Slim to none. It's not like Phish playing MPP is new, they've been playing there since the 90's. Wooks know the rules.

but how many two-night weekend stands have they played?  getting tickets to both shows, and wanting to save money for teh partay favors wink wink might motivate some to think that spending a july night under the stars isn't such a bad idea.
They have played two nights there for the past few years, I think.
They played 2 nights in 2010 and 2011. I think people overestimate how weird/unruly the Phish crowd is.

Exactly… They've played two night runs there in 10' and 11' both on the weekend. Also, I think steam has been lost on gaining a lot of new young broke wookie phans and the majority are fat pear shaped white guys that make a lot of money.  :o

It was sarcasm… a little bit. But the generalization that Phish fans are a bunch of low life dirty hippies is so 90's.

Final Schedule is up for MACRock.  I have a lot of bands to check out.  They added tons since their last update.

COURT SQUARE THEATER SATURDAY 4/6
Cat Martino ? 10:10 ? 10:50PM

Cat Martino opened for Mark Gardner at the 9:30 Club awhile back. I was really surprisingly impressed with her set. Especially loved the Fairport Convention cover she did.

Yes - The Blue Nile was an 80s Scottish pop act that heavily used synths.  The singer has done the occasional show in last few years..

Their debut album A Walk Across The Rooftops is one of the most beloved pop albums of the 80s.

For a good stretch the Blue Nile's Hats album was my preferred LP for going to sleep…if you can't fall asleep to that you need help.
i enjoy the way the jam band fan base has changed over the years.  the wookies are still there, but they are like a sideshow attraction now to the rest of us that go.  yes, yada had it correct.  we grew up, we got good jobs, park our nicer cars in the lots, and we still like phish.  camping . . . who does that anymore at a show?

I feel as though your fancy would be tickled by them.

Only if I can find someone to go with, I definitely wont drive out there for a two day fest by myself. Ive heard their recorded stuff, its good.  If i dont go, Im sure I can see most of the ones I would want to at some other time.
i would go with you . . . but i dont like people.

Ehh, personally I'm always surprised to see Seth Hurwitz come on here and frequently express such sneering contempt for a group of people that are among his best customers. So when he makes a statement like that, which always seems to have a strain of "oh you idiots don't know shit" I just shrug it off as, oh here's the owner being all Mr. Tough Guy again.

i didn't get any sneer or condescension.

did you perceive any sneer in seth's reply?  just wondering if i'm alone in interpreting seth's reply as not being disrespectful…

i'll call out seth when he does something i disagree with, i've done so before.  maybe it's my professional background but i often understand where he's coming from.  a lot of people whine about sh*t as if they are entitled to concerts and forget that he's running a business.
well actually . . . if you must know, i felt a little of a both sided coin in the statement, but that is life and how we live it in everytime moments that just keep on coming.  he was defending that artwork that is music, the way people in the business are there for a business, "you mass idiots."  i mean come on, artists know who they are appealing to with their prices and how far they can stretch away from the fact that the tangible cd sale avenue is forever closed.  now you have a big ugly kettle on the ground where people can either throw a few coins in to pass or just walk on by the fucking person who built the road and use it any which way including loose.  i saw the passion of the seth in his speech to whomever he delivered it to through his post.  people have to be able to make livings at what they do . . . and everybody wants to make it the best, be the best, make the most money.  i do.

but i also saw a "sort of fuck off if you dont like it" as well.  but that it ok.  life has room for fucking off.
