Just Announced Commentary - 2011 Edition

I'd rather see Electronic <ducks>
In addition to collaborating with our local boys DC Brau, they do put out a really nice IPA. ;)

Whatever happened to Ska?

It comes back about every 15 years or so. We should be ready for for fourth wave of ska any day now.

LOL…sorry, I didn't intend to take away from everyone's excitement.

Actually, this setlist is enough to make me re-think my decision: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/new-order/2013/the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas-boulevard-pool-las-vegas-nv-63d8da8b.html

damn..thats like a dream set list…although not one song from technique… it may not be an album that translates well live…

Maybe that's because so much of it is centered around Peter Hook's bass… <ducks head>

KIDDING!

Technique was my favorite album for a few years…

Thing about it is it has quite a few songs with the Ibiza/balearic sound which would essentially be like doing karaoke…

Electronic's first album is a classic.

I think a live Electronic show would be karaoke… all preprogrammed beats with Marr ocassionally strumming his guitar… wouldn't work very well..
Technique and Substance are my 2 favorite New Order LPs, but as far as "albums" and not compilations go, Technique is a masterpiece.

And Kosmo, the first Electronic LP is as good as Technique. One of my desert island discs.

+1

I'm very much partial to the 3rd one "Twisted Tenderness"

so is this something that will sell out?
no idea. maybe call the brewery and ask them how things went last year? let us know what you find out.
I am thinking that the New Order show at MPP might end up being the most boring show of all time. Saw them twice as an opener at MPP in the 80's and they were perhaps the most boring shows of the 80's. I can't imagine they have gotten any more exciting since then.

And I can't imagine them being headliners. When they couldn't headline in their prime.

Obvious post is obvious.

What if the lumineers opened up for them and joined in with them for some songs?
;D
joy division/new order are the most important band of the past 35 years so i'd cut them a bit of slack

Perhaps second. Kraftwerk is first.

only if you think they are. i personally think the dead kennedys fit that honour.
well somebody always influenced somebody but i think New order is the tipping point.. i think they took Kraftwerk's wacky innovations and mainstreamed them… but I'm sure some people might point to Moroder or even say that it wasnt as much neworder as say Arthur Baker…. I think neworder's sound has become so mainstream that they are ignored..kind of like say chuck berry… but when you listen to 1983s power corruption and lies (plus blue monday) i hear everything that came during that decade and the next on the dancefloor..well i hear the seeds at least..

on top of that you add joy division's stuff and wow just wow…

in any case, though i long ago stopped listening to them (who can listen to the same stuff decade after decade?) they were a really big band for me…and Sumner's voice is comfort food for me…. he could - and sometimes i think might as well- read the phone book (some of his lyrics are so so trite) and I'd dig it.

from the evidence i've seen and read its pretty clear they are not the greatest live act but wow what a body of work….good lord.
I'll go if I win tickets from the city paper.
