Just Announced Commentary - 2011 Edition
Well since Walkie said it is THE END… it must be!
(although I'm suspicious of a 1 comma post, comma coma maybe?
There is pretty much no chance that show will sell out right?
and it's all GA
and someone please tell me why they are billing it as ….An Evening with
Can't it just be Peter Hook and the Light
also first time to the Howard…
Can I buy tickebasturd-feeless tickets at the doors (sans fees?)
General Admission - Standing Room
Limited Seating Available First Come, First Served
So what's the deal here, is it set up like the State Theater?
? $10 Minimum Per Person, For All Tables
lame, but it's actually pretty hard not to spend more than $10 if you are sitting an people can bring you drinks

Yes.
I think he's gotten more confident in what he's presenting and feels more natural being in the spotlight.

there is no chance the show will sell out.. there is a chance if nobody buys their tickets ahead of time that the show will be cancelled…there is also a good chance this show will end up on goldstar I think
you still pay fees even if you buy at the box.. maybe less but still noticeable…
its a really nice place.. I don't know anything about the tables as whenever I've gone (only twice) I've been on the floor…
"An Evening With…" = "haha, fuck you, no opening band. all the money is MINE"

I'm not sure what show you're referring to, but I wish every show was "An Evening With".
Space wrote:Yeah, if a band is going "An Evening With. . ." and plays for 75 minutes, that's one thing. If they go "An Evening With. . ." and do multiple full sets, that's totally different.Relaxer wrote:

Ahem, the Feelies. 2 sets and like 4 encores. So good.
As for the Pumpkins show, it's being billed as "an electro-acoustic evening". So buyer beware.
THIS IS HAPPENING

Here's a good idea of what to expect (minus the Adore emphasis) setlist-wise as its what SP rolled out for last year's acoustic tour:
Tonight, Tonight
99 Floors
Today
My Poor Troubled Heart ([traditional] cover)
Dorian
For Your Love (Zwan cover)
Drum + Fife
A Stitch in Time
Mayonaise
Prairie Song (Billy Corgan song)
Jersey Shore
Sparrow
Perfect
To Sheila
Behold! The Night Mare
For Martha
Blissed and Gone
Ava Adore
Now (And Then) (Billy Corgan song)
The Crying Tree of Mercury
1979
Run2Me
Pinwheels
Stand Inside Your Love
Landslide (Fleetwood Mac cover)
——
Something (The Beatles cover)
Spaceboy
Disarm
——
Cardinal Rule
I love opening bands. I've gotten turned onto so many great groups by seeing them in an opening slot. And there's been times where the headliner was crappy or boring but the night was totally redeemed by a shit-hot opening band.
Billy Corgan annoys the shit out of me. Although I do love the 90's pumpkins. But damn if I would spend money to see them live. I just had to say that out loud.

Can't believe this wasn't mentioned earlier
ROCK & WORSHIP ROADSHOW
MARCH 13, 2016
Royal Farms Arena
Featuring:
Newsboys
Jeremy Camp
Mandisa
and more!
And Space should like the price for an area show $20!
Plus tithe.

I saw them at VFest however many years ago that was. That's all I really need from them. I was pretty whelmed.

Back in the day the Pumpkins were a pretty great live band, but they were notoriously hit or miss and most of this was because of Baby Billy Corgan and what kind of mood he'd be in. I've seen his tantrums and it doesn't make for a fun time. I saw the Oceania: Live in NYC DVD and it was pretty okay. I'm glad Jimmy Chamberlin is back. But the only lineup in person I've ever seen is the original 4, and I'm good with that. I'm not interested in hearing any more new music of theirs, and I wouldn't shell out big bucks to see them again. If someone gave me a free ticket, I'd go. I think the Lincoln show has the potential to be cool, especially with Liz Phair opening. I'll be curious to hear how it is.
yleah that reminds me i also saw the pumpkins at lolla 95… and corgan was trumptruming about people throwing water bottles at them … but he was right…
the beasties owned everyone i saw that day though…
