Mezcal Head is the one I dig the most.

MezcalHead… maybe I'll give it another shot…

I think that "Raise" is more consistent, but "Mezcal Head" has some of my favorite songs of theirs: "Never Lose That Feeling/Never Learn" is sublime, and I never get tired of "Blowin' Cool".

so why did you ask what a CD is?

cause I like being a wise@ss sometimes

That is awesome.

Are they DJ or full band sets these days?

Also, I haven't heard anything since Nothing is Lost… How's their stuff been since?

"shpongle on tour" is going to be a DJ set, or Dj + flute, 99% of the time - like on the upcoming tour. when DJ'ing, simon posfird plays in a LCD/laser/etc booth called the "Shpongletron.

on the rare occasions it is a full band, they really highlight that aspect. if it doesn't explicitly say "full band", it isn't. given the expense and logistics of pulling off these shows they tend to be one-offs rather than a full tour.

their music has remained pretty consistent, although the last album (museum of consciousness) is a slight return to more electronica and a tad less worldbeat, AKA an improvement in my books ;D
DJ + flute? that is too funny ;D

yeah, but only if you're never heard Shpongle's music. one of the two guys in the band (raja ram) plays flute on just about every track. so "DJ + flute" is simon posford DJ'ing fluteless tracks while raja provides the missing flute parts.

I'm tempted to post a bunch of student recitals.

Ace Frehley is a guitar god!

sorry hutch, but you're alone on this one.

do you play guitar? if you did, you would know that ace's playing is pretty weak. his influence over other guitar players is minimal, to put it generously.

i'll entertain that he might be a rock god, but to say that he is a guitar god is ridiculous. he's a rock star who happens to play guitar, but his playing skills are far, far from legendary.
Its not about playing skills..its about influence.. Ace Frehley is the most important guitarist coming out of the mid 1970s….then Eddie (who was influenced by Ace)…. Ace inspired a whole generation of kids to pick up the guitar…no amount of trivializing KISS is going to change that reality… From heavy metal, to pop metal to grunge to whatever… Ace was the cat's miau

Slash, Dimebag Darrell, Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, Dave Sabo, Scott Ian, Kim Thayil, Mick Mars, Jake E. Lee, Paul Gilbert, Mike Mccready, Eddie Van Halen himself,

The list is endless…

Saying he is not a guitar god would be akin to saying Chuck Berry wasn't… which would be ridiculous since the guitar as rock's primary musical instrument is unimaginable without him. Does that mean Berry is a "great guitarist"? No of course not..but he is a guitar god…

of course you have to be a bit older and open minded to accept reality…. I'm pretty sure Ace did not influence Foster the People or any of the modern musicians who wouldn't know a guitar if it bit them in the ass.. the guitar "solo" is out..its uncool…. etc etc

No Ace.

Of course not.. the mainstream always trivializes KISS as a cartoon teen boy band… they've never gotten good reviews.. they only got in the RR Hall of Fame , run by Wenner of Rolling Stone, THIS year!!!!!!!!! And due to a write in effort by, you know, music listeners.

Ace's influence is of the first order… anyone who doesn't want to see it is….deaf..
