Just Announced Commentary - 2011 Edition

isn't he all moody and shit, and you never know what you will get, behind those jean jackets with buttons on them and that cute messed up hair.

Ryan Adams presale is going on for citi card holders.  Since the board seems to hate him it won't matter to most.

Presale Code: #SUMMEROF69

I'm only going if he plays 1989 in it's entirety.

Haters gonna hate

At this point, I think it's been posted around 10 times.
The thing is, you aren't even exaggerating that much.

I figured, but searching for Ride proved useless and I went back 5 pages without seeing it.

Probably would have found it if this thread was better utilized.

You mean if people used this thread as opposed to the Just Announced thread (which is only intended for show announcements and not for making insulting weight gain comments)? Yeah, you're right.

Sorry, but today can blow me. Just one of those days.

Oh, and for the record I posted the first Ride announcement, and yes, that show is gonna be awesome.

First of all, Mary Timony hasn't actually put on any weight.

Second, it was a joke which directly referenced a Helium lyric.

Yes, this exactly.  Well, any comments, insulting or otherwise.

hmm…where I'm from that's a good thing  ;D
We should do a board meet-up before the Ride show. I know I wanna get m buzz on before I go into this sacred shrine.

seems to be inspiration for the pool in the ceiling concept at The Anthem.

I would rather the inspiration be the Figure it Out intro to Entourage….

Julian is interested but mostly focused on letting my fans see me before the Moroder show.
I never make it to these meetups.. there's always something… but I'll be at Moroder barring an unforeseen catastrophe….

Look for me holding a bag with a record….
so Gorillaz.. what is it like? I mean how do they perform live with a bunch of cartoons and without all the guests on the albums?

Dunno for sure. Do know that that presale was overquickly
I have a lot of teens and tweens on my Facebook page and all joking aside, its really weird how many of them absolutely love Gorillaz. Like their biggest hit is older than some of these kids. I really don't understand how they've become such a seminal act for the under-20 crowd but they are.

There are a ton of people on stage and a ton of visuals, not all of which are cartoons.  They won't have all the guests from the album, but there is usually a special guest or two.  It's a fun show and I recommend going.
When Gorillaz played the Patriot Center on their Plastic Beach tour, their house band included Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, and the guests included De La Soul, Mos Def, Little Dragon's Yukimi Nagano, and Bobby Womack (RIP).  I thought it was an exceptional show.

I pulled a fairly awful seat in the pre-sale this morning–row TT, right center–but I am still very excited.

That Patriot Center show for Plastic Beach was incredible. The endless parade of special guests was cool. Bobby Womack still had an excellent set of pipes. I also remember Damon Albarn tripping on a cable or something and playing it off as cool as he could.

Here's my review from their last US tour, which I think answers your question.

You are a solid B-/B writer and cultural critic.

This is maybe the biggest compliment I've ever given a boardie in the open.
